    Prescriptions

Improvement / higher quality is a 'change for the better'. You can't have improvement without change. You really should 'make a fuss', and draw their attention (at the highest level you can push to/access) in the shortcomings in the process that is operational at the local postcode level...

    DPC question and cowboys

Anyone got any experience with damp proofing? (pls see pics) I'm helping out a retired neighbour who is redecorating his lounge. As part of the preparation for a new carpet, I discovered this magnificant "cowboy cover up" today. 20 years ago he had patio doors fitted - which were replaced 1...

    Prescriptions

I used to think that GP's (in England at least) were PAYE employees of the NHS. They are not. There is a yearly option for prescriptions, which could work out cheaper. £104 for 14 (or more) items in a 12 month period. http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcost ... costs.aspx

    Applying spirit dye

This thread has been interesting, timely and useful. I was about to apply several coats of Danish Oil over a Colron dye today (which I thought would be OK). (I'm doing this for a neighbour, on a large window sill.) That could have been fun as he watched me 'dissolve' the dye I...

What do you think of this for a marketing idea

+1 Referrals and search is the way forward. Why anyone would want to spend £100/200/300/400/ etc on something with a shelf life of a few days is beyond me. That's throwing money away. Henry Ford would adjust his 50/50 numbers in todays market.

Move the engraving onto the handles? (Just a thought / option to consider.)

Varnish problem on old window sill

I'm trying to help out a neighbour who is a good friend. He sanded down his (approx 25 year old) interior hardwood window sill in his lounge and made a really bad job of flattening the layers of old varnish from years gone by. In haste to get the job done, he has applied 3 coats of Ronseal...

    What's this? Ideas wanted

From The John Dickinson Lion Brand envelope catalogue for March 1961: Old postal envelopes were 3¼" x 6" or 3⅛" x 5⅜". Your initial thoughts might be correct.

    Newbie Hello!

When that happens, try searching again using the 'Google custom search' on the right hand side. It works well.

    Car Boot 07-07-13

Hi Pete - I paid £14 for it. It's worth that to me and in pretty good condition. This is after a wipe with white spirit. All the best.

    solar water heating

Both BP and Shell had stakes in the UK wind business until they figured out it was a commercial no-no. With those windmills sitting motionless much of the time. Delivering nothing. This UK solar fad will go the same route. In the meantime, some spreadsheet genius (or politician) will come up...
