    Electrical question

Can you not simply radially wire the 16A blue plug to a 16A MCB in the fuse box? I am not entirely clear why you want a switch in the middle of the span as well ? Something like this would be fine wired radially...

    Tablesaw outfeed area

Thank you, some very nice workshops and solutions there. I must admit I hadn't thought of hinging to outfeed table off the back of the saw  I was trying to hinge it off the cabinet to the side of it for some reason - which if I ever move the saw means the outfeed table wouldn't travel...

    Tablesaw outfeed area

Hmm, with a bit more jigging, a fold down outfeed table is a possibility! Comments gratefully received. Steve.

    Tablesaw outfeed area

Trying to rejig the layout of my workshop on paper at the moment and am running into the problem of where to locate the tablesaw. I can either place it in the centre of the workshop, which is a pain because it eats space, or on or towards one wall. For those of you that do not have your TS in...

Converting a cellar to a workshop - practical considerations

Some interesting points there, many thanks. Doing a forum search on dehumidifier threw up this useful thread: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=136381#136381 I am getting a much clearer picture of what I plan to do now with the walls, floor and ceiling, soon be time to think...

Converting a cellar to a workshop - practical considerations

Why do you say its an over the top solution Jake? I have a musty cold cellar with walls that are so uneven I cannot hang cabinets from without substantial battening. Its noisy to the upstairs rooms of the house and cold from the cellar through the floor to the house is an issue that needs...

Converting a cellar to a workshop - practical considerations

Thanks Ike. I had been told that dehumidifiers in a cellar were not a good idea since although they dry the air in the cellar they also pull moisture through the walls from the earth outside - not sure whether this effect would be significant in a stud wall lined workshop inside the brick walls...

    If your not busy

Alot of the American Patriotism which seems strange to us Brits stems from America having a very recent history and its independence from Britain within the last 250 years. Americans are still proud of that struggle and fight and the associated legislature such as the declaration of independence...

Converting a cellar to a workshop - practical considerations

Roger / Mike, thanks you enormously, very sorry to take your lunch hour Mike! Ventilation is the main take home message I get from your comments. The cellar originally had simple open iron work grilles at outside ground level (ceiling level in the cellar) which allowed ventilation but also...

Converting a cellar to a workshop - practical considerations

My current workshop is in a cellar - bare brick walls, uneven surface etc etc. Typical Victorian cellar. What I am planning to do is line the walls to make it a proper room, but it needs doing to a budget. Dot and dab is no good as the surfaces are far too uneven and there are a number of...

    Hi

Hi, Welcome to the forums. The SIP is generally considered a good introduction to scrolling, above the cheaper taiwanese imports at the cheaper level of the spectrum. A forum search will help you with information as this has been asked about and recommended a few times before. Steve.

    The BIG 150

I just spent a nice 10 minutes browsing this, but it seems only a few of the machines have a decent discount (Ax table saw for example) but most have a very small amount off - in the region of 5-10%. ie not much more than can generally be found off whatever Axminster is promoting in a particular...

    woolworths

Sadly not, you can get mainstream stuff like this online much cheaper. What they seem to do well is cheap homewares and kids clothing and toys. Not the latest fancy electronic stuff, but general stuff such as board games, cars and the like. If you have kids or grandkids it is well worth a look...

    sky broadband price increase

I know a few members have been asking about sky broadband recently, just a heads up for those thinking their prices were too good to be true - they are. Had a letter yesterday informing us they were adding a fiver to their broadband prices, doubling the cost of their midi package. Still cheaper...

    Dave's Workshop Refit... At Last!

Thanks Guys, thats the one I had my eye on due to the increased flow rate over the AWEDE2. Glad to hear it performs well with the 63mm pipework. Steve.

    Dave's Workshop Refit... At Last!

Very nice indeed Dave. Which of the Axminster extractors is it if you do not mind me asking? I need to put in an extraction system, probably 63mm and am still trying to decide on the best extractor for the job. Cheers, Steve.

    Wooden Toys , Need Ideas

Do you mean truck as in trolly to carry bricks or truck as in lorry? How old is your son? I don't have any photos but there are numerous books out there with this kind of stuff in - try Richard Blizzard for some of the more accurate 'model' type toys or a book called 'Tremendous Toy Trucks' for...

    Woolies

I guess it depends whether the banks had their loans insured against default by Woolworths. If I had 350 million insured and you offered me 250 million as a payback on that 350 loan I would do the same as the banks - say no and collect the insurance. Don't forget that the banks do not lend out...
