Now that Christmas is nearly here I'm finally feeling festive :D , so I decided to download a load of Christmas tunes from itunes. I was wondering what other members favorite carol's or christmas tunes are?

I'll start the ball rolling with

traditional: God rest ye merry gentlemen

Modern: Winter wonderland

Hark the Herald (descant version)...gotta be sung by Kings College, Cambridge though, nothing else quite cuts the mustard  - Rob

God rest ye merry gentlemen would be my first choice Phil but I'm also rather partial to In the bleak mid winter which is sort of modern! My girls sing in the choir so I'm getting lots carol rehersals at present giving a nice festive feel.

While Shepherds washed their socks by night,
All seated round a tub,
A bar of Sunlight soap came down,
And they began to scrub.

My Dad sang that to me when I was a young kid - still makes me laugh

Cheers

Not a humanist, so can admit to liking God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
But for modern stuff it has to be Bing's White Christmas
Cocteau Twins' Winter Wonderland is, well, Christmassy in a very commercial way.

Burnett.

Always makes me smile.

Veni Emmanuel as performed by Anne Dudley
God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings - Bare Nake Ladies & Sarah McLachlan
Winter Wonderland - Tara MacLean

Silent night. The tune, the words and the history behind it.

Roy.
