Dust Mite and Systainer Drop Box

Just a thought fusstool, if you put another set of clips on the lid you could take the pipes off the cyclone, turn it upside down and transport it in the box thereby protecting it. The pipe would also probably store in the box as well. Wouldn't protect it on site as such but would make it...

    Oneida Dust Deputy Availability

Go on ebay and buy a dust mite cyclone or dust commander cyclone. Pretty much the same apart from tapered ports. About half the price and gone down in price since i bought mine. Then make your own drop box from a bucket or similar. Will be much cheaper and just as good. Heres mine...

    Table saw choice

I have no idea how good they are but there's a guy over on the woodhaven who used to post here a lot selling the Charnwood. He's had it a couple of years and having read his posts it will be well looked after. It's going with an axminster router lift in the wing for £650 I think. If you decide...

    Tormek question

Thanks to all for the general advice and to David and Martin for confirming the original Q ref the grey wheel. I have this morning took the grey wheel off and replaced it with the unused leather wheel that luckily came with it. I did notice the grey wheel had 3 prongs that engage with the...

    Tormek question

**** No the leather wheel doesn't. I haven't looked that closely at the machine at all and didn't realise that was part of the drive mechanism. I bought it on a whim as it was so cheap a while ago and only now decided I ought to start using it. So I take it the black wheel needs to go on the...

Thank you David I shall probably take it off and replace it with the new leather wheel that came with it in that case Mark

    Tormek question

A little while ago I managed to pick up an old tormek 2000 very cheaply. I need to get a few of the accessories but even buying these I've still got a bargain. My question refers to the honing wheel. The leather wheel was in a box and appears unused. Instead there is another wheel on in its...

    Tormek and Jet wetstone grinders

Deema That's what I'm hoping to do, put a jet rest in a Tormek 2000. I read one review that said the "prongs" were a few mm's difference in spacing so was concerned they were not interchangable. Where did you get yours and how much did you pay.? Mark

    Tormek and Jet wetstone grinders

Anyone know if the tool rests on these are interchangable? Are they the same diameter bar and are the prongs the same distance apart? Mark

    Moxon Vice build

Great job. Got any photos showing the underside support and how it's held down? The collars look great, are they glued in and do they made any difference to using the dogs in them? Mark

    Tap and die recommendations

They are for cutting new threads The split dies I assume are tightened/slackened by the holder to cut in stages until final fit is achieved ??? How important is this and if very, why are they made not split? Cheers Mark

    Tap and die recommendations

Um, as a none metal worker it seems there is more to consider than I first realised. So for steel, it seems HSS is best, softer stuff then CS will suffice? Can someone explain why 3 taps per size are required. I'm talking about cutting fresh threads not cleaning old ones. You'll gather I've...

    Tap and die recommendations

Hello all I'm looking for a metric tap and die set, new as its a gift. Ideally covering M 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and possibly 3 and 12. Though it will be occasional use don't want something of questionable quality, sets made of cheese not required. I haven't decided on a budget, I can alter that...
