    Harrogate on Sunday

I have actually got a lathe but its the proper type (for metalworking - making useful stuff) not for this woodturning nonsense. I mean, how many fruit bowls and candlesticks are you going to need? On the Domino front my forecast is for a high probability of purchase in the near...

    Harrogate on Sunday

Back from Harrogate with mixed feelings. Was really good to meet up and chat with Steve, Matty, Jonny D and Richard. However, on the whole too much woodturning for my liking and jumble sale style tat tool stands. Only thing I bought was pie and chips (which was a bit overpriced but...

Ernest Joyce books - I am confused.

Well yes, now you say that there are some similarities - not enough pictures, small writing... Ed

Ernest Joyce books - I am confused.

I've got it, but I can't say its something I look at very often, if at all. Its not exactly easy reading. Ed

    Domino or not domino

Thats a shame, I was planning on weighing up a purchase on Sunday. The exhibitors list has someone down as selling Festool - presumably not there? Ed

Steve I'm thinking of going on Sunday, so could offer you a lift - J25 is not too far from me. Ed

    Pine lettering

Is that not carved in rather than stuck on? Ed
  12. Mr Ed

    Domino or not domino

Well, just been reading the Festool website and they refer to it as a biscuit joiner, so shows how wrong I am! Ed
  13. Mr Ed

    Domino or not domino

I am actually considering buying one, with my recently received annual bonus (no I am not a banker). Just deciding if its the thing that gives the most bang for the buck. I think its misleading that they always get compared to biscuit joiners because whilst there is some crossover they seem to...
  14. Mr Ed

    Domino or not domino

I disagree. I've made a few tables using double biscuits to join the legs to the rails and never had one break. I am of course talking small coffee tables, occasional tables and the like, not a dining table. Biscuits work fine in these instances. Ed

    Nasty Experience

If its only a surface rust from a few days I'd go at with one of the rubberised abrasive Garryflex blocks, which should do it. You can get them from Axminster and I find them most useful. Ed

Shame, I think thats just too far for an evening for me. Would love to meet Mr. L-N though... Ed
