    Colouring experiment

Story of my life! Although with all the responses I don't think I was needed at all. There are lots of different methods of achieving various results and I think they've all been listed here, so it'll be a case of what suits you best. Meanwhile, we are working on a high-gloss, non-spray...

    Buffing System?

But of course! The concept of using the wheels is relatively simple, it's really a case of a little bit of practise to get used to how they work. Yes, I'll be at Harrogate and will have the kits available there; if all goes according to plan we'll be demonstrating them too. We're aiming the...

    Buffing System?

'My ship's come in with a cargo of ....' well, mandrels, not dollars. (Slightly obscure song reference there, only Brownie points available for spotting it I'm afraid). So that's good news, it was on time, and we should be taking delivery next week so that means that by the end of next week we...

    Axminster in Nuneaton

Thank you Martin, I'll blame my dodgy memory!

    Axminster in Nuneaton

Just to clarify... There is no connection between Craft Supplies and Tabwell Tools other than both dealing in the same sort of materials. Rutlands was started by (and is still run by) the same guy who owned/ran/controlled Tabwell Tools. Stretching my memory back further I seem to also think he...

Who is going to Cressing Temple?

I was over at the barns this morning setting up and there was a really nice feel to the place and the event, wonderful setting and, from what I could see, lots of exhibitors. If the weather stays nice it should be a great weekend - poor weather won't spoil it but there are some open air walks...

    eratic cursor

When will people learn not to try to correct spelling on forums? Whilst I do appreciate the humour - and I genuinely think it was meant to a funny comment rather than a personal swipe - it'd be 'mean' not 'man' and it should be 'erratic' not 'eratic'. Just double checking this for spelling now!

    Buffing System?

Just a quick update for those interested (hopefully the numbers have swelled since the bash!)... The ship has sailed! I've been sent a notice of arrival giving the ETA as 30th September, although this can change of course and even then, after it arrives, we'll have to deal with customs...

    Buffing System?

Yes, we are working on domed mops for the inside of bowls etc; we're planning for it to work with our 'wheel kit' so it's a bit chicken and egg at the moment, but it is on the drawing board as it were and shouldn't be quite as difficult to launch as the wheel kit has been. Hopefully!

    Buffing System?

Our posts crossed John... what problems are you having with our site?

    Buffing System?

I can't remember if it was revealed that it was us bringing a new system out but if it wasn't I can go public now and say that it will be. It's been a long drawn-out process of getting it right but I think we've got there and feedback on the advance kits we supplied seems to bear this out. At...

    Cleaning hand brushes

Yep, for our brushes we recommend warm soapy water and whilst I don't know which ones you're using I'd suspect the same advice applies.

New Business Opportunity for Wood Turners?

Hmmm... not safe for work... but's it's okay to fritter away your valuable work time perusing woodwork forums?

    Visiting Soon

Curiously, can't help much in Southampton but these people are certainly worth a visit in Stavanger... http://www.verktoyas.no

    Chestnut White Woodstain

The white stain is always awkward and results from it can be 'unpredictable' at best. It was originally formulated to be used as a mixer for the other colours to allow the creation of pastel shades; this was instead of producing a whole new range of stains that still wouldn't be quite the right...

    Plane Making Rock Star

Blimey, I was only playing their cd the other day, it's still one of my favourites; wish I'd known about the gig, I'd have made the journey down for that one. Anyone know if there will be any more? Sad to read that Jez Bird (the original singer and founder of the band) died a few years ago...

    Wax over friction polish?

Only if you feel you need to! Some people will put a coat of Carnauba Wax over Friction Polish which works and is quite acceptable, probably not a bad idea for a pen as it will make the shine last a bit longer (carnauba being harder wearing than the Friction Polish when handled a lot). Back to...

want to get internet on laptop, how??

That'll depend on which one you get; the Vodafone one I have won't, others will but you'll probably then end up having to pay monthly.

want to get internet on laptop, how??

I've got the vodafone dongle and it suits my purposes very well; it's a true pay as you go, you only pay for what you download and it doesn't expire a month after activation as many others do. My original top-up amount is still going strong six months later; admittedly I don't use it much...

    Colouring wood.

From what I can tell the tightness of the fit of the bung seems to vary, probably depending on the mold or something else in the manufacturing process of the bottle/bung. I think the best advice would be that if using the 'pierced bung' method (did I really just give that a name?!) then hold...
