Hi there,
Has anyone had any success using the white stain in the CHestnut range? I find all the colours work really well and are fairly easy to apply, but have not been having much luck with the white.
I'm making a selection of coloured ash boxes and today tried the white stain - which either looked liked thin white paint (horrid) when applied with a small brush or wiped off completely filling only the grain (much better look) when rubbed on with a cloth - unfortunately either method results in a very "rough" feel to the item after applying the stain. I've not found the other colours do this, and wondered if this is a result of the white stain containing a pigment, or if it raises the grain of the wood more than the other colours. Whichever, I had to 'denib" vigorously after applying the white stain - which of course removed even more of it!
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
