Purpose Of A Router Table Insert Plate

Once you have the insert plate levelled on the levelling screws you can easily whip the router in and out to change cutters. Some have removeable centres. This means you can swap them around depending on the size of cutter. Technically you don't have to have one, but life will be easier...

    New lathe best advice

Thermo There's a jet1442 in for sale on this board. Dermot wants £399 for it, which seems good value to me. They get good reviews.

    Willow log??

I have a lot of willow in my log basket. Not sure I'd turn it. Very oily. Cracks when it dries. I'll try turning some of what's left as an experiment.

    Ccsl unwell. Out of alignment?

Problem solved. I think it was the hand wheel's fault. I took everything off that would come off without dismantling the headstock and carefully put it all back again. I'll never run like a Harrison or a VB36 but it's running as well as it did before. Thanks for the helping hand, John All...

    Ccsl unwell. Out of alignment?

Dear all Advice required please. I have a small Axminster Perform CCSL. I was turning a small elm bowl 6-7" max tonight and it started to wobble and became impossible to correct. I assumed it was the wood, but when I took it off the chuck and ran the lathe again the chuck clearly isn't...

    Simple Oak Bowl With "Character"

I'm interested to see you were able to get such nice wood from the post. I have four old pots and had marked them down as firewood. Time to reassess:)

    Morgan factory tour

I'm having trouble getting my photos off the phone, but as a taster, here's a link to someone else's photo of the ash frames waiting to have their aluminium bodies fitted (i.e. beaten by hand): http://www.annandave.org/Morgan%20factory%20027.jpg

    Morgan factory tour

I spent a very happy couple of hours today on the Morgan cars factory tour. The body frames are still made from ash. A fine display of English craftsmanship. They have a jig for everything. I will try get some photos off my phone. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone - £10 a head - phone...

Help: new no volt release switch won't work

It's their srt/10 switch, which fits their old smaller table. It is rated to 1850 watts and I have an old dewalt dw625e type4 with the 1850 motor. Trend told me it should be ok with that - it won't even work with the vacuum cleaner! Trend have kindly agreed to replace it foc. Let's hope the...

Help: new no volt release switch won't work

Hi folks I tried my new Trend nvr switch today and nothing. It appears to be dead. I tried it on a couple of machines to be certain, but it's like it's permanently off. Are faults usual? Could this be user error? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Steve

Dewalt dw625 dust kits old and new query

I have an old dewalt dw625e type 4. The number is 9740-01, which would make it a 1997 year model. In 1998 dewalt changed the dust extraction kit. I can get hold of a kit but it is the newer style. Does anyone know if it will still fit a pre-1998 machine? Thanks in advance. Steve

    New dw625e off the bay

Curiouser and curiouser! I took off the sub base assembly to see why it won't plunge to the base only to find that someone has obviously had it with the springs out in a table. It has been put back with the wrong springs - big buggers which allow it to plunge but not much. The small (part no61)...

    New dw625e off the bay

Good news: I read elsewhere on here that there is a technique. On the dw625 you have a two stage process to getting the cutter out. The first few turns of the nut does nothing. When it becomes tight to the finger again, another half turn or so with the spanner loosens the cutter. I still...

    New dw625e off the bay

Yes it was the collet nut. A night's soak in WD40 freed it up ok, but now the cutter is stuck in the collet. I understand this is a common issue, but it's not obvious what the answer is. All tips welcome! Cheers Steve
