So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

And you couldn't put budget in the title so we don't have to waste our time reading this crap. It's fait accompli. You can't do anything about it.

Or my favourite sign. Wet Paint! This is not an insruction.

How can I put a dozen or so old tyres to use?

Cut & paste is rarely used unless you are in the advertising industry. The norm is copy & paste.

Coronet major planer stuck set screw and lock screw

It's over 20 years since I had a Major. I don't think you can concentrate the heat well enough to get where it needs to be most effective ie the bottom of the threads. Presumably they are Allen head bolts so I would sacrifice an Allen key by cutting off the shorter limb, inserting it in a socket...

    CBN Wheel for RSBG8 Grinder

Water stones tend to rotate away from the tool, possibly because a dig in could ruin the stone, whilst the norm, even for belts, is to rotate towards the tool. Don't worry about angles, just copy what is already there - with the proviso that someone hasn't previously put their own grind on the...

    Nova or Record?

Well I'm blowed. You learn something every day. Just downloaded the manual & it states "If you try to fit NOVA jaws to RECORD POWER SC chucks it is important to remember that the jaw numbering on NOVA jaws will be different to the jaw numbering on RECORD POWER SC jaws and jaw slides. NOVA jaws 1...

    Cleaning up a Coronet Major

As I posted in the Machine Wax thread (https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/machine-wax.149597) any wax is better than no wax. I use Liberon Black Bison clear wax because I won a tin in a magazine competition back in the 1980s. The protection lasts for months if the machine is unused. Even if...

    Machine Wax

Been there, done that & it only works for a few days. The tin of Liberon Black Bison clear wax that I won in a magazine competition back in the 1980s performs better & the protection lasts for months.

Any wax is better than no wax. Same for oil in an engine.

    Digitise slides

Mine is an Ion Film Scanner & came from Robert Dyas. No idea of the quality of the copies that it produces but they are ok for my needs. About 12 slides can be stacked in the carrier which also has an adjustment to cope with different thicknesses of slides.

eBay scrapping selling fees for private sellers

So if i want to buy something from you or any other seller, what should my first contact be? "Is it available" may not be to your liking but it starts the conversation & is not really a reason to ignore a potential buyer. Cutting off your nose to spite your face, comes to mind. Saying that, I'm...

old roughing gouge, any good for beginner?

As with all tanged spindle roughing gouges it is the amount of tool overhanging the tool rest that can cause a problem. Too much & a catch may cause the tang to bend or break. As long as the tool rest is kept close to the work the problem shouldn't occur.
