    Mould and damp

yep very easy, the lino the tenant installed without permission was removed and there hasn't been an issue since. Rent is already cheaper than local market value. If you think that all tenants are lovely people who are being downtrodden by the ruthless landlords then you are sorely mistaken...

    Dust Extraction Question

The problem is you are not extracting dust from the thicknesser but chips. Dust is small and relatively small amounts. A table saw or router is only going to be throwing out a very small amount of waste in small bits. Your thicknesser is removing a much larger amount of wood and in bigger...

    Long plywood kitchen cabinets

Something else you may want to consider is a plinth step. If you cabs are quite tall they look quite useful. Random example SPACE STEP: All you need to know about planning – Blum EASY ASSEMBLY Blog

    CS coach bolt?

depending on what you are securing you might just be able to get away with 5mm countersunk bolts having enough friction to tighten without turning. Or perhaps a blob of weld or two on the shank

    Long plywood kitchen cabinets

If you watch any of the American renovation shows they seem to make all their custom cabinets out of plywood and from what I can see they are often pocket screwed together. They then spray paint in situ. Can't see any reason not to do what you are thinking.

Hand planing hardwood - bad idea?

depends. My planner/thicknesser has to be taken out of the garage and setup on a bench and then i have to find my extension lead and probably switch over the exhaust port depending if i am planing or thicknessing. I then have to don my ear defenders, respirator and eyewear. Do some adjusting and...

Hand planing hardwood - bad idea?

Well you have a decent bench so that's a good start. Sharpening seems to be a big pit of debate that will drag you down quickly. Choose one that works for you. Personally I have an old oilstone and a piece of mdf and some car paint cutting paste to do a final strop. Seems to work for me and I...

Anyone had a new oil boiler installed recently?

you can also add heat pumps and solar water heating and backup immersions and also get an airing cupboard back if you put it in the house. I have a dumb gas boiler which heats my tank. It's an indirect tank so I've got an external heat exchanger (think its a 90kw plate exchanger) which uses a CH...

Wand Makers and Whittlers Help Required

They look really great! I found a really heavy log in my dads wood shed so split it and turned a piece into a little whistle. Turns out it is hawthorn and the grain is absolutely beautiful. Not sure about green wood but this was properly seasoned and cut so nicely and leaves almost a silky...

Where to buy cornice in the UK?

Whilst I agree in principle, could you elaborate on what exactly you see as the dangerous part(s)? I would identify the exposed blade as the main risk but I may be missing something you are seeing and that is always useful to know. If it is just the exposed blade that is the danger this could...

Where to buy cornice in the UK?

I have no idea if there are any dangers doing the following other than the obvious danger to fingers. Makes me wince seeing him put his hands/fingers over the blade! but removing that danger with pushsticks I can't see a reason why you can't do this it certainly seems to work. Obviously table...

    New bandsaw advice

I guess the first question to ask is what you intend to do with it. I have a Sheppach basa1 which does most of what I want but it is only a small machine. But I also have a table saw if i need to cut bigger things. It zips through inch size wood without a problem. The only issue I have with it...

    Band saw levelling

As @Terrytpot pointed out the OP was asking about setting the bandsaw into a bench. I'm sure it could work if you set it up for specific cuts with fences etc but unless I am using my bandsaw incorrectly I look down the blade as i'm cutting and guide it through, which you wouldn't be able to do...

Structural use of back of cabinet

If it were me I wouldn't worry too much about expansion with plywood. If you are using draw runners you have a couple of mm play anyway. I'd do 18mm box and a much thinner back fixed in place, probably in a rebate to make it neat and strong. What I haven't seen mentioned though is adding bars...

Anyone had a new oil boiler installed recently?

Whilst it's entirely up to you what you do, I would advocate for investing in other/additional tech whilst you are at it. You've seen the volatile nature of oil/gas and who knows what is likely to happen in the coming years. It's a finite resource so only really likely to go up in price. Water...

    Chisel re-handle for christmas

Yes, I followed a few of the youtube videos from Paul Sellers and Worth the effort, combining bits from both. The tangs on these arent a square/rectangle but more of a round shape with 4 wings that barely taper except for the last 5mm. I ended up pretty much drilling a straight hole rather than...

    House heating upgrade

The OP is in Slovakia so would have to check those options and warranties are available. Might also be local rules. On top of that in the UK that would probably be at a guess £5-10k install, which is a pretty big investment and would require installing radiators, the boiler and a large tank...

    Diamond Sharpening stone

I haven't used diamond stones so can't really comment on them but as to your point of oil stones I would agree. it's what I use to sharpen my chisels etc along with a piece of MDF and some car paint cutting compound and I can get them sharp enough to do the cutting of the edge of a piece of...
