Very nice too Pete, surprisingly difficult to carve a good looking spoon I've found, although maybe that's just me !

Cheers, Paul

Hi Keith

Most where made from green wood and I do use a home made crook knife for the bowl.

They are fun to make, I find it relaxing you don't have to measure any thing just remove every thing that isn't a spoon.

Thanks Pete, I've made a few years ago and intend starting again. I used seasoned wood then but will have a go now with green wood. I've got a hook knife but struggle to get a really sharp edge on it  Not the easiest tool to sharpen.

Regards Keith

Good stuff there Pete. Your crook knife looks a good 'un. It would be good to see more of this type of woodworking on here.

I hacked up a big lump of pear tree this afternoon to take to our greenwood meeting tomorrow to see if twe can find any bowls inside it !

I use a dowel with Autosol on to strop the inside to get it really sharp and a strop for the outside.

How did the pear "turn" out?

I made another spoon today the apple is getting dry and harder to work.
