It seems that the Yandles show is on again this Friday and Saturday.
I am hoping to attend on Saturday. Anyone else going?

Unfortunately, I just can't make it this time. It is a long drive 5hrs or so from up here in Nth Norfolk.

I intend however, to pull out the stops, and make an appearance next spring.

I throughly enjoyed the last event, probably the best show I had been to over the years. The setting is the best, a working timber yard, and the wood sheds a place to spend hours and a few pounds.

Hope all that attend have a top time.

Cheers, Tony

I hope to be there on Friday, I am driving down so an early start. I have other things I need to do Saturday morning and then a Bash in Essex in the afternoon, which will of started with out me in the morning.

I'll be there both days, Gents!
I also have some badges printed off - pop by my bench to pick 'em up :D
Cheers
Philly :D

Jealous! Jealous! Jealous! Why oh why did we move away from Somerset?!

Seriously tempted, always wanted to go to Yandles. But 3hr drive... hmmm

I should be there sometime late Friday morning. Perhaps only for a couple of hours, I'll see what's going on.

You could always wait another... Seven months until the next one?!?

I'm glad this show is (mainly) indoors/under cover. The weather forecast for Friday at least certainly isn't looking good. :?

Mothers 60th coming up. Am planning to make her something like a Jewellery box but needed some inspiration for wood. So headed down to yandles last saturday for a look around and went slightly mental, bought :

Didn't realise the show was this weekend, now tempted to go again, severe risk of going nuts for a second time in a week and buying a Dovetail jig (for making the jewellery box) and some other woods.

Bloody hell, that's gonna be one big jewellery box!! (Not to mention expensive, too!) :D

Like I said, I went a bit mental ! :D :D S

hould be enough there for every birthday for a while yet (and xmas). Any of the woods you'd be particularly keen on for using for a box ? Or are they much of a muchness ?

It depends on what you want to do, really...

I'd be inclined to use one of the lighter timbers for the sides and maybe add some contrasting timbers elsewhere - you could even cut your own veneers from some of the stuff and make your own panels with MDF. Have a look at the grain and figuring (cherry, chestnut, maple, sycamore) and find something you like (thankfully, Yandles have already planed one face for you!). I think beech is the only one I'd save for something else. :)

looks like I will be down at Yandles on saturday if anyones about ? After some advice on dovetail jigs whilst I am there
