A lovely new Quangsheng V2 standard angle block plane from my son and daughter. Already had a quick play - produces shavings you can see through. Gorgeous. I'm a very lucky and grateful boy.

very nice Roger but where is the plug and cable? is it Li Ion powered. Seriously though it looks a nice bit of kit congrats.

I've wanted to try my hand at turning for a while now, so, here goes ( get the plasters out ) ( the extension will be coming in the New year ( temporarily out of stock )

Here's some of the stuff I received this morning:

002.jpg

Books from SWIMBO, Japanese ryoba saw from No1 son and marking gauge from No 1 daughter...need to have a play around with them in the 'shop once the weather gets a bit warmer - Rob

Didn't get the Axminster AWVSWL1200 I had hinted towards!.... but a Lancelot and belt sander should help with my creativity!
Hope you all had a great day, happy woodworking for 2011.
Chris.

When I was thinking about a Christmas list I was told by LOML that this year would be a tool-free Christmas - she was bored with requests for clamps, apparently (imagine!!).

This morning I found one of these under the tree:
Anniv2.gif

It had been hidden around the house for the past four months. And when Matthew describes it as "a heavy smoother" he isn't kidding.

Love that woman!

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Tool wise I got an oil filled radiator for the garage and a combined disk and belt sander from my parents. Very pleased with both gifts and looking forward to taking the chill off the garage with the radiator!

Daughter in the US got me a fascinating book called "A splintered history of wood", by a guy called Spike Carlsen. It's a real mixture of practical, scientific and anecdotal stuff about wood.
Among the gems I've gleaned so far is that there are about 7-9 MILLION woodworkers in the US. No wonder that market can support some interesting things.

Also didn't know until reading this that ex-President Jimmy Carter is an accomplished woodworker, who makes at least one piece each year to be auctioned in support of his charitable foundation.

And the largest single board available in the US is a piece of New Zealand Kauri, possibly 50000 years old, recovered from a peat bog. It's 20 feet long, 5' 6" wide and 4.5inches thick.

No pictures but tool wise i got an external calibra, crown bead gouge 3 books on finishing and rustic furniture from axi. Then T track from rutlands.

Strange presents i know but just sent her my baskets. I also didn't get the large equipment lol

I got this from my Brother-In-Law.

A Stanley 103 with a sweetheart cutter. Not seen too many for sale on Ebay.

I have sharpened it and it cuts really well. As it is quite small and has a natty little blade adjuster that allows you to easily retract the blade I can see it would be a very handy plane for carrying around in your pocket for those small trimming jobs.

I like it because my Brother in Law put a good deal of thought into my Christmas present.

My wife bought me a Makita track saw, it came with the instruction to build some fitted wardrobes and bookshelves.

With his usual wind up nature, I unwrapped my present from my parents to find a deep fat fryer box... Which of course had a chainsaw inside ;) ;)

From SWMBO I got a set of protective trousers and gloves to go with it.

My lovely wife bought me...

One of these!

And my brother made my dad and me beading tools, which was funny as I made them... beading tools. As a result I will probably never finish the last of the batch which was destined to be mine

No Lie Nielsen toy under tree, but stuffs taking more place...
