Anyone got the 10" model? and does it have cast iron tables and fence?

I was literally checking out about to purchase a draper machine when i chanced upon the woodford website.

So there are a couple of posts on here about it but they are all months old and noone had actually got one, though many seems to have them on order!

So could someone put me out of my misery? If the xcalibur has cast tables and fence count me in but for £400ish i am either reading the price wrong or in blind hope of a bargin?

Hi

PM sent: I have the 12" model which has cast iron tables and alloy (but very rigid) fence. It's a heavy, solid b*&%$r like their table saws.

It also has 4 knives compared to the 3 of the 10" model and is 3hp rather than 1.5hp.

Can't recommend it highly enough, it's superb. Mind you, like the table saw, you'll need a 16 amp supply if you go for the 3hp one.

Hope this helps.

Woodford do not do the 10" p/t anymore, they told me they were getting in some 12" ones instead, table length is the same as the 10", forget how much but its knocking on for GBP 200 more. :(
Dont rely on their website as its only updated once every Preston Guild

Recky,

Hmm, not sure about that: the tables on my 12" Xcalibur P/T measure 1620mm (listed on their website as 1600mm), whereas the 10" model (now apparently defunct) only had 1050mm tables.

The 12" is also twice as powerful and has a 4 cutter block rather than 3.

Cheers,

Paul

Just looking at the spec of the 12" PT. One thing I have always thought that would be nice on my JPT310 is a slower feed speed option for better surface finish.

The Xcalibur has two different feed speeds of 8m/min and 9.6m/min, but in turn these relate to two different cutter block speeds of 4000rpm and 4800rpm, so in other words the cuts per inch remain the same. What on earth is the point of that? Unless you want to take huge cuts each time (well 20% bigger than usual)

Paul,

It might say that on the website, but my Xcalibur 12" has a single feed speed of 5.8m/min and a cutterblock speed of 4200 rpm.

Cheers,

Paul

Paul,

They still do the long bed 12" like yours, they are just replacing the short bed 10" the a short bed 12"

Ah, I see.

Haven't spoken to Roy for a while, so I'm a bit out of touch with the range.
As you say, the website isn't the best way to keep one's finger on the Woodford pulse.......

Must try to get to see them at Harrogate.

Paul
