Contrary to all those people building new workshops etc., I’m downsizing my workspace, and selling my trusty Poolewood 28-40; it’s old, built like a tank, relatively noisy but does the job.
One owner since new in 1991, new bearings, drive belt and capacitor fitted in mid-2021.
Lathe capacity 14” diameter over bed, 40” long, or up to 28” diameter over large bowl attachment, with head turned through 90degrees.
Mechanical variable speed motor 1HP, adjustable from approx. 250 - 2500rpm. Headstock is 2MT, 1½” x 6tpi thread with basic 24 position index and swivels through 90 degrees for large bowl turning.
Accessories include 8” faceplate, 4”, 8” and 15” toolrests (30mm diameter), and two ‘S’ shaped bowl rests (one home-made), 4 prong drive, pin drive attachment, live centre and knockout bar
Also included is a Nova Chuck (direct thread for 1 1/2” x 6tpi spindle), with 50mm jaws and screwchuck. This is an early model, with two levers to open and close the jaws, rather than the current design of hex key, but is compatible with current Nova or Record Power jaws.
This is a big machine, almost 2.4m long, weighing well over 200kg, mounted on a wooden bench with steel legs and 2cwt of cement inside the bench, will need heavy duty transport and people to lift.
Can be seen working or dismantled ready for collection from Epsom, Surrey area
Original manual and other documents available as PDF if more information is needed.
I’m looking for £700 for lathe and all accessories as above.
