Can anyone recommend a good quality 1/2" router bit for mitreing kitchen worktops...I've just wasted time and money on a pack of 6 cheapo ones.

Gerry :-(

I wouldn't use anything other than a replaceable tip cutter for worktops, try Titman their british made and good quality, and at about 4/6 quid a tip after buying the shank(about £60).

I have Trend/Titman two flute adding cost on the kitchen fit covers sharpening as well. They seem to be discounted at where I get my kitchens. I get a few fits out of each cutter, hand it in to my local sharpener who gets a few more uses out of it, I carry three. As mentioned earlier worktops are hard on router cutters, the glue/laminated top. Replacement tips are a good option.

Just for interest I understand that some chipboard that is used for worktops has sand added  , this is cheaper than woodchip and gives the worktop weight to make it feel better quality. This is why worktops take the edge off cutters so much.

I think they contain whatever was seept up off the floor on the day

Including all the metal swarf around the engineering shop too, judging by some of the tops I've fitted before.
