I have a small workshop 12feet by 9feet with double sliding doors but it is made of metal covered with a plastic paint.
They are very common, in gardens as a cheep shed.
It is cold in the winter and would like to know if I lined it with chip board would it help with insulation?
The boards I have stored in my garage, they have a covering on like a plastic.
If you go into a well known book shop and look at there book shelves its that material.
Size of the boards are about 2ft 6inchs by 5feet and I have about 15 to 20 of them, the fixing maybe a bit tricky but will come to that when it comes.
I would tackle one side at the time or may just do above the benches.
Or should I just get a better heater.

Yes, insulation will help a lot. Metal sheds will get a lot of condensation which will cause rust on tools etc, and difficulties with timber movement if you leave it in there (as it will pick up moisture) and when you bring it in it will shrink/split.

Any heat you do put in will also be lost straight through the walls so if it was me, yes, I'd insulate but you might need to be careful the condensation doesn't form on your cladding and cause rotting/mould problems.

Hi Reg, the thing is those type of sheds are really only for storage, ie, lawn mowers, bicycles etc, if you insulate I think you may have a terrible condensation problem, sorry I can't be more helpful but I think you need to upgrade.
regards, Rich.

Insulation contains trapped air chip board does not. What ever you do will be a compromise try a 8x4 sheet of say 2" polystyrene tight up to the metal and look for any condensation at the bottom of that sheet if ok or you can get it away compleat the job and use the chip board as a lining.
Insulating the roof in the same way could be difficult if any condensation runs down it could wet the walls.
