UPDATE #5

Nearly there! The roof set me back quite a bit, swapping the 4x2 to 6x2's. During this time we also decided we might as well put a skylight in there so, seeing as this is a 3m span I thought it would be a good experience to build a few flitch beams to support the skylight either side. Its a triple glazed, aluminium 600x900 skylight so it quite heavy, approx 50kg. Had to invest in a mag drill to put the holes in the 10mm steel bar, annular cutters are my new best friend! Couldnt believe how much easier it was compared to a standard drill bit and hand drill.

I used climbing straps around the adjacent joists to make sure it didnt fall on top of me while getting the flitch beams into position

L brackets used to secure roof joists down, you can see the remains of the old joist hangers here.

I got a great deal on some second-hand window and doors from Greendoors.co.uk. £700 for the 2, including delivery. The door is HUGE but I wanted it like that to make getting tools in and out easier. I started by framing the front wall. I got some second hand tyvek flexwrap to flash the top and bottoms.

I used permaroof for my EPDM kit, on their ebay store they sell firestone EPDM offcuts for quite a bit cheaper, I snagged a 7x5m sheet saving about £100. Installing the rubber roof was very easy but I did find the glue set very quickly as it was a warm day and I'm doing this by myself.

That's an amazing tip thanks! I need a new window for my garage and I'm building a garden room once the garage is renovated. Looks like I could save a load. I was thinking of trawling FB marketplace, which isn't a bad idea, but being able to pick from a catalogue would make things a lot easier.

Your build looks amazing btw - great job!

I've seen a door on Greendoors web site that I'm interested in for an upcoming workshop build I have planned, recently realised they are located around 25 minutes away from me so I'm thinking of going to take a look

UPDATE #6

Finally finished, I didnt do anything over the summer/autumn as was too busy with work, managed to finish up over xmas, a bit rough around the edges but Im just eager to get this done, start clearing up my garden which is now a construction site and get some machines in there.

We opted for metal cladding on the back and side wall by fence and cedar on the front and side wall that has access. Blue battens where placed vertically and then horizontally as I was doing my cladding with vertical boards

Opted for cedar for the soffits

Used corner flashing where the cedar meets the metal cladding

Coated with preserver, brings out the colours really nicely

INTERNALS

Fully insulated and then added the vapour barrier, doing my best to seal the seams

I was undecided as to use plywood or drywall for the internals. I opted for 18mm shuttering plywood as its the cheapest I could find, It doesn't look pretty but Im very glad I chose this because just this week I was moving some wood into the shed and I bashed the wall so many times.

I used 12mm plywood for the ceiling because lifting the 18mm above my head alone would have been a PITA.

Will add some final pictures when its a bit brighter tomorrow

ps - for a bit more detail on this build I put together a youtube series -
