Thx guys for the positive remarks. It's quite comfy, but i need to get the proportions right, the footrest is a tad to low, but that's part of making furniture without models or proper plans.

Dave, how do you post pictures directly into the thread ?

This is a personal view, but for me the legs look too skinny in relation to the thickness and mass of the top pieces. If the legs and rails were made a bit more chunkable then I think the whole thing would look more balanced - Rob

I agree with the stretchers being too thin. The legs i'm not quite sure.
 
I think that's a very handsome stool. Legs are just right but I agree you might make the stretchers deeper especially if intended as a foot rest.

Hard to see from the photo but it looks like the seat slats are cut off square at the ends. Might it look nicer to cut them to follow the curve implied by the varying lengths of slat?
