I will travel to Reading, Berkshire, after next week. I'm interested in woodturning and I'd like to visit in stores which sell woodturning tools and accessories. I have not been able to find such stores from Google.
Would you kindly list here stores your recommend, address and website address would be great?
Also tips for any other woodturning related places, I should visit, are naturally welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hello, and welcome to the forum :D

Reading is only about 20 miles from The Toolpost - I've only dealt with them via mail-order (and the service was excellent),but think it would be well worth a visit.

Andrew

Thank you Andrew! This is exactly what I'm looking for.
I'll try to visit The Toolpost if I can, I'm there only from Monday morning to Friday afternoon and I have to be working so I don't have too much time. Other ideas are still welcome :).

Thanks Brian!

Is there any places in Reading, even with smaller selection of woodturning stuff?

The only decent tooly place I know in reading is Drews the Ironmonger, but I don't think they do turning tools. Might be worth a try seeing as you're pretty close anyway:

Just outside of Reading is Wokingham tools, they're small but very friendly and I'm sure I've seen turning tools there before:

(P.S. I case it's not obvious, I'm not a turner!)

Not specifically turning but doesnt reading have a screwfix ? (and possibly a machine mart as well ?)

I passed a second Screwfix in Reading at the weekend, on the Basingstoke side of town off of Rose Kiln Lane (near PC World, Maplins etc).

Cheers, Paul :D

I work in Reading often during the week and up to recently stayed up there 1 in 3 weekends. Wanted an xtreme extension and found that the chap who runs woodworkers workshop has (had) much of his stuff in a workshop just outside Reading, on the web as woodworkersworkshop.co.uk. If I remember right he had a load of turning jigs, high end though, no tools as such. Interesting chap and happy to chat when I saw him. Not a shop as such, just a shed on an industrial area but may be worth consideration as it is only about 15 mins drive.

Personally I found Wokingham Tools not up to much, geared mainly to site workers. Also there was a shop in Reading itself that I took a trip to once (forget the name), also found it to be not up to much.

Otherwise I haven’t found much that is up to the mark in that area. Possibly CRM Saw & Tool company, not too far away if you have a car, probably about 1 to 1.5 hours drive.

I’ve not been to Toolpost but from the looks of it it’s exactly what you are looking for.

Where are you working in Reading out of interest?

Should also have mentioned, if you can be there on Sat 6th June or Sun 7th June, the Hand Tool Event at West Dean will be on. That would be well worth the time and trouble, not all that far away from Reading (probably 1.5 hours in a car). I went last year and would recommend it without a doubt, just make sure you come to the UK with empty suitcases and loads of cash! I am very sad I can't make it this year.
