Hi,

could anyone give me some advice please.

I have the Dewalt 625EK router and recently bought a router table for it, which is great, however what is a real pain is setting the depth of the cutter.

I was looking to buy one of these height adjuster screw type things for it?, think these are only for to use in the inverted position in a router table? but when I done a search in Google to buy one, these Woodrat bars popped up.

The price difference isn't too bad so could anyone advise which would be the best and any advantage or disadvantages of either?

Many Thanks

I have a DW 625 and do not find adjusting the height a problem especially when used in the conventional position. But as I use it mainly in my router table where adjustment is a real pain, I added a Router Raizer. It costs about £70 and makes fine tuning a dream. It can be used at both "ends"- top & bottom.

The Woodrat bars are plunge bars ideal for working one handed on the Woodrat - they allow you to plunge the cutter with one hand.
They are not much use for fine tuning or adjusting?

As Rod said; in a router table, Woodrat Plunge Bars won't allow you to make fine adjustments but you should be able to raise and lower the cutter with ease, single-handedly. I used to have one with a previous router in a table setup. Fine adjustment is what you really need in a table.

I've got Plunge Bars on my Axminster Router in my table. I'm very happy with them. They are perhaps not as sturdy as I had imagined but they work well, allowing you to plunge with one hand and lock it off with the other.

Surely the gauge on the router allows for fine adjustment? if you want to increase the cut by a mill or whatever, un-plunge, re-set the depth gauge and off you go, seems simple but then I've never used a more high tech method so I don't miss it!!

Hope this helps,

Richard

I have Woodrat bars on my table router and, as Richard says, small changes in setting are easy. Certainly a big improvement on what I had previously, ie. nothing, and a lot cheaper than a "router raizer" or similar.
