Does anyone have any idea what wood this is please? It's been knocking around my yard for a few years and I decided to cut it this morning. It has a beautiful yellow inside.

Thanks & regards

.....It looks a bit too yellow for Apple in my opinion. I have some sections of a couple of Apple tree's that I cut down more than 10 years ago and it is much, much more White than the OP's pictures.
Do different species of apple tree have different coloured wood...? ( I have no idea what type of apple trees mine were!...)

At least one piece looks like cherry to me from the bark. Lighter in colour than I would expect, but it happens.

I would tend to agree with cherry - the bark of the piece at the back is certainly not apple, and is like cherry. But with so many varieties of flowering cherries around the wood colour will vary.
