Lovely work Gasman.

I too love to make boxes and find that 400 box book a great source of inspiration.

Looking forward to seeing it fully completed

A very nice and unusual box, a bit more accurate engineering than would normally be required - excellent.

I haven't had to change the fuses on my C26, did Record say that it was something other than the fuses?

I am lost with it Shultzy - I have been through the (awful) manual - both the Minimax and Record versions - and there is definitely power getting to the machine, I have checked thwe internal fuses, the emergency switch has not been tripped and both trip switches seem OK. They are sending me a new on-off switch and if that fails are sending someone out. Will let you know what entails

Finished yesterday
Quite please with it although I did have to scarf a piece in as one of the gaps was too big - however I used a piece of oak from the original which matched and it is very hard to see the join

And here are the 6 pieces separated

Overall I am happy with it and it was an interesting lesson in geometry and precise cutting

I forgot to mention the finish - I tried a product on a recommendation I had not used before - Fiddes Hard wax oil. I though it was outstanding - 3 coats, rubbed down with very fine paper between (actually used a Festool DTS 400 with 320 grit paper for most of it). The great thing about the finish is that if you rub it with a fine cloth a couple of hours after applying, you can buff out any brush strokes etc. I tend to use those small cotton wool pads to apply oils etc - one brand of them (?tesco? has a cover on which stops bits of stray cotton wool being left on the finish
I was going to wax it after but the depth of sheen is amazing.
Not a Fiddes employee - just very impressed with a new finish
