Totally and utterly agree with you, but i fear the answer you will get back is society has failed them!! But manners and morality costs absolutely nothing in my opinion.

My grandmother didn't have much money so she had 3 jobs to provide for her children whilst my grandad had 2 jobs to do the same. They wanted a better quality of life than what they were given the wars etc etc. so they worked hard for it within menial jobs.

They lived in a 2 up 2 down all their lives, but it provided the platform and work ethic for my mom to work hard with dad at the business they had (a butchers shop).

They worked 30 years none stop with no holidays to provide for the 4 children they had. in the end it reaped its rewards for them they retired at 55, my dad went on to play a lot of golf he still does and mom because she hated not working went on work for the bank for other 5 years until they said she had to retire.

I have just started my own business a joinery company which is starting to go well.

My brother is a director of a global company that every knows and used their products at least once their lives.

My oldest brother is a high end manager of some sort with a huge insurance company

and my sister well she is a hard working house wife.

So in 3 generations our family have gone from not a lot but happiness to being quite successful, because it was instilled within us from generation to generation that hard work reaps rewards and long may that continue.

so in my opinion society only fails you if you let it! but unfortunately these days the hard working amonst us keep getting hit in the pocket even upon death.

I have said time and time again that those who truly need help should receive it.

Those who truly need help, such as our wounded armed forces, should receive help upto the hilt IMO.
This government, and the previous one, have common ground on stopping benefits to those who are junkies and alcoholics who refuse rehab, it would be a start.
