Picked this up on the !st Sept after a wait of 7 weeks. Automatic for the missus, her 4th Mini and I absolutely love it, drives like a dream and even though it's the largest Mini ever produced it still corners like a go cart but as comfortable as My A4. In fact it seats 4 large adult passengers in comfort and 5 at a push with a boot apparently larger than a Focus. Quality difference between this and the Nissan Juke she's had for a couple of years is like chalk and cheese.

Better still, I now have millions of brownie points, trouble is I can't buy anything as I've spent all the kids inheritance.

PS: Might fit some anti cyclist bars to the front  (hammer)

Yes. They're huge. Which is odd, really.

Particularly alongside the original.
I marvel at what I managed to do in the back of one of those in my distant past

Hi Lons

I am on my second Mini now and love them too. I currently have a cooper countryman which is much more practical than my previous 2 door cooper but really slow and a bit gutless.
I am looking at going to a five door like that next year, what's the boot like on them compared to the 2 doors?
We could never use the 2 door for general weekly shops unless we put the seats down so we would always use my shogun sport. Since we got the countryman we can use that and save a lot of money in petrol as I only average 15mpg in the shogun so boot size matters a lot.

Hi Gerry

My wife started with a Mini 7 followed by 2 coopers, all hatchbacks the last with a full body kit in spice orange which she loved and cried when we traded it in. Reasons were a toddler granddaughter and new labrador meant 3 doors and tiny boot couldn't accommodate car seat and dog very easily.
I bought a new Nissan Juke which I didn't like much at all but it's what she chose. Big mistake, quality wasn't there, things went wrong and Nissan and the dealer were slow to sort out and little bits kept dropping off the thing, not what you expect on a brand new £20K car.

This new clubman cooper is very different ( the original was horrible ) and I'm serious about the amount of room back and front for driver and passengers, even with the front seats right back. The boot is much larger, bigger than the countryman especially if you take out the lower shelf. Mini say it's bigger than a Focus and only just smaller than that on a Golf. The car is wider than a standard Mini and looks low and mean and is very well equipped as standard though I added the normal chilli pack, automatic gearbox, slightly upgraded wheels, reverse camera and heated front windscreen and bonnet stripes so it ain't cheap! Colour is the new out digital blue and photo doesn't do it justice. The car has 3 modes to choose from economy, normal and sport. Normal is pretty comfortable while sport tightens the whole thing up.

It's the largest most expensive Mini ever made but one of the best IMO if you like estates and the only criticism I'd have is the double back doors obscure vision a bit though not a problem. Engine on this one is petrol 1.5 but it's quick enough and the auto gearbox is seamless. I drove the 2.0 diesel which is even better but not for us as she only does 5K miles a year and if you can afford it the Cooper S is I understand pretty stunning. Quality is typical BMW as always.

We had a countyman for a week before we bought the Juke and my missus didn't like it much. Said it isn't a mini and wouldn't have one however much I tried at the time.

There seem to be plenty of ex demos around the dealers and most of them offer an extended test drive loan if you ask and they think they might get a sale.
I don't work for them BTW so unbiased but I think you'll note I'm pleased with the purchase even though now skint.

cheers

I bought a new Corsa last week for my wife. It was a ridiculously cheap deal and I have to say I was very impressed with the build and quality. It's loaded with toys inc AC, Heated seats, heated steering wheel and the Apple Car Play thing. £119 deposit and £119 a month! So much car for so little money. The driving position is also really good.

The only problem with the Mini is they don't seem to be very reliable. They come in last place in this list. As for BMW they don't normally fare very well in reliability either.

That's right but as a family who've had 3 BMWs and 3 Minis (prior to this one) without even a hint of a problem my experience is different. I tell a lie, my wifes' last mini dropper the bluetooth connection occasionally and the dealership moved heaven and earth to sort it, had it for a week and loaned my missus a brand new Countryman.
Can't say the same for our experience with Nissan which is a shame being a local company to us.

Take it back. That number plate is a mess.

been away on hol so just seen that. Women are strange, my missus hates my personalised plate but was very happy to choose her reg from a list before we got the car " so it's easy to remember" WTF?

Japanese cars normally do very well for reliability. Nissan are in the top ten in this list and BMW and Mini are in the bottom ten. These aren't customers opinions but derived from warranty direct data.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/new ... urvey.html

Can't argue with stats I guess but like most things in life personal experience and recommendations are better IMO. I have a lot of friends and family who have Nissans as you would expect in the North East especially when you can get a sizeable "friends and family" discount and I've seen some horror stories apart from our own niggles.

As I said 4 Minis now and I've had 3 BMWs and 2 Audis so I am a bit biased towards German cars though I do like the new Jag. Can't afford one though. :(
