We could never use the 2 door for general weekly shops unless we put the seats down so we would always use my shogun sport. Since we got the countryman we can use that and save a lot of money in petrol as I only average 15mpg in the shogun so boot size matters a lot.

My wife started with a Mini 7 followed by 2 coopers, all hatchbacks the last with a full body kit in spice orange which she loved and cried when we traded it in. Reasons were a toddler granddaughter and new labrador meant 3 doors and tiny boot couldn't accommodate car seat and dog very easily.
I bought a new Nissan Juke which I didn't like much at all but it's what she chose. Big mistake, quality wasn't there, things went wrong and Nissan and the dealer were slow to sort out and little bits kept dropping off the thing, not what you expect on a brand new £20K car.
This new clubman cooper is very different ( the original was horrible ) and I'm serious about the amount of room back and front for driver and passengers, even with the front seats right back. The boot is much larger, bigger than the countryman especially if you take out the lower shelf. Mini say it's bigger than a Focus and only just smaller than that on a Golf. The car is wider than a standard Mini and looks low and mean and is very well equipped as standard though I added the normal chilli pack, automatic gearbox, slightly upgraded wheels, reverse camera and heated front windscreen and bonnet stripes so it ain't cheap! Colour is the new out digital blue and photo doesn't do it justice. The car has 3 modes to choose from economy, normal and sport. Normal is pretty comfortable while sport tightens the whole thing up.
It's the largest most expensive Mini ever made but one of the best IMO if you like estates and the only criticism I'd have is the double back doors obscure vision a bit though not a problem. Engine on this one is petrol 1.5 but it's quick enough and the auto gearbox is seamless. I drove the 2.0 diesel which is even better but not for us as she only does 5K miles a year and if you can afford it the Cooper S is I understand pretty stunning. Quality is typical BMW as always.
We had a countyman for a week before we bought the Juke and my missus didn't like it much. Said it isn't a mini and wouldn't have one however much I tried at the time.
There seem to be plenty of ex demos around the dealers and most of them offer an extended test drive loan if you ask and they think they might get a sale.
I don't work for them BTW so unbiased but I think you'll note I'm pleased with the purchase even though now skint. :lol:
