Thanks again for all the input, guys! Much appreciated.

I think I'd already made my mind up about the TT range, so I was on the lookout mainly for comments along the lines of 'No! Avoid! it's pants..'

I've not actually got round to taking my test yet  and my good lady has a serious aversion to driving in other countries, so the 'other countries' option isn't really a factor in my decision.

If we go anywhere in the car where we;ve never been before, I naviguess for the lady. The SatNav is only really for when she has to go somewhere she's not sure of by herself. She does worry so...

I dont think it can be long before having a sat nav switched on whilst driving must become a traffic offence. Heard yesterday that Dorset will even consider driving with a radio switched on will become a traffic distractionwith their traffic no tolerance policy.

Whichever you buy don't use the "Princess Diane" voice over, it only gives on direction
" put you foot down, and maybe we can loose them"

Surely that is a wind-up, dw. What's next - no passengers or even better, no children in the car!

I agree, Husbands & wifes would never be allowed to be in the same car

Also Cops would need to arrest themselves as they are always talking/listening to the radio comms

Hi,

We used to be told off for looking out the window as school, wounder if the police will use that one as well

No wind up Roger.

Quote from the paper and also there was a tv news bulletin as well.

Motorists who drive using mobile phones, without seatbelts, at inappropriate speeds or who are distracted by an in-car entertainment system will be pulled over.

They will be asked to attend courses at a Road Safety Centre of Excellence which will be built in Poole as part of the project.

So keep oput of the SW Roger :)

Of those mentioned, no surprises. Just wondered though how they will determine ..who are distracted by an in-car entertainment system. (Notice no mention of SatNavs, dw.)

There is a better albeit more expensive solution and that is to build some proper roads in Dorset. Most A-roads seem to be little more than cart tracks.

The news report actually stated that it would be people distracted by tuning, fiddling with or changing tapes or CDs on their in-car entertainment that would be looked at carefully. So no real need to go all Daily Mail on us.
I knew someone who killed a cyclist (mother of 2) whilst changing a cassette in her car whilst smoking and talking to a child...

Smudger - they will have to ban most BMW's because of their IDrive (some will say a good thing too? :) )

Most of the cars functions are operated from that, which could involve fiddling with it whilst driving?
