I have the usual selection of cheap router bits sourced from various pressies and 2nd hand purchases plus I have a few that I have bought for specific purposes, such as worktop templates. I usually buy Trend for these however I just looked Whiteside and they sound promising and at a glance look to be cheaper. I'm always suspicious of cheap prices however some vendors do overcharge.

Anybody tried these out or have other favourite quality bit vendors that they prefer at sensible prices?

This time I was looking for a 1/2" shank bearing guided template cutter, about 40 to 50mm long and diameter somewhere between 18 and 22mm but can be flexible on OD.

Cheers
Andy

I ordered 2 cutters from Wealden for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

i used them on some Corian worktop fabrication and they are good quality and a reasonable price.

A guy I know that has a CNC business uses Wealden for his cutters as well.

Thanks guys, Wealden's or Axi it is, looking at Whiteside in more detail, the closest they had was a combi cutter with bearing at top and bottom that was over a £100  I hadn't seen Wealden's before so that's a good tip :D

Another satisfied Wealdon bit user, they sometimes have offers on different bits, I bought a 1/4" set from them recently and they where excellent, the picture frame bits are also excellent.

The good ones I have come from Wealden, Trend, Freud, CMT and Axminster's own-brand. That's in no special order, and the Trend and CMT ones have become very expensive. The Freud ones are 1/2" worktop cutters, and excellent, and weren't expensive when I bought them, ages ago. Wealden have a very good web site, and excellent service (as does Axy).

And the best ones come from Titman Tools, the only British manufacturer!
