or even "Do you read Blogs?"

Since the start of the year I've been using Google Reader to keep up to date with the blogosphere. It's quickly become a good replacement for magazine. I now only buy BWW and PopWood.

Perhaps too many to list here but I'll kick things off with:

Popular Woodworking blog
Woodworking Magazine blog
The Bloke Blog
The Philly Blog
Stu's Shed
The Village Carpenter
The Woodwhisperer

What do you read? (Doesn't have to be woodworking related).

On a regular basis, none. I do wonder whether I should start but there is so much info out there I think I would waste a lot of time (albeit pleasantly) trawling multiple sites. I tend to stick with Fine woodworking as a source of info/inspiration and thats about it really!

Steve.

The Phillyblog
Chris Schwarz
The Village Carpenter...a new take on 'Norm'
Sauer and Steiner

and mine

...plus any others that I come across - Rob

The Wood Wizer blog (on the rare occasions that its updated) ;)
Ollys blog
The bloke blog
the philly blog
things we make (ed sutton)
and
Nick Gibbs blog

and my own

and non wood related

Andy Rouse - wildlife photographer
and
Someone a little nicer - an experiment in kindness

IMHO blogs have been a disaster.

Instead of a forum of people discussing things, you end up with separate people (pretty much) on soap boxes.

The amount of interchange (and hence cross fertilisation) drops catastrophically.

I particularly hate the use of forums to advertise blog posts.

I think that's a little harsh BB. Not all blogs are about preaching. Most are just accounts of woodworker's experience. Not 'you should listen to me and do as I do'. I'm with you 100% on 'advertising' blog posts on forums (by the author that is).

Those who say they don't have time to trawl around looking at blog, should try google reader. You can have all your blogs show up in a similar way to email. No need to go to the blog site.

Joel's blog is quite good (Tools for working wood), as is Sauer and Steiner.

I can't seem to get the momentum going on my blog. A few years ago I had a pretty popular blog that covered my veg growing antics. I will get it going again soon, maybe when I'm finally fixed and doing some proper work, regularly.

I'd love to Jim. Looking forward to it actually.

But that said, it's got to be better than watching TV, hasn't it? I've not turned the TV on, on my own, for well over 2yrs.

Most of the Blogs I read have already been mentioned - you can't beat a good Blog, or several, for that matter! :D

There are only two I haven't yet seen mentioned (unless I've missed them...), belonging to The Stig and Lord Nibbo.

From the sound of it, Google Reader is similar to the Tag Surfer application on Word Press, where you can view numerous Blog posts based on the Tags you've selected. There's also Readomattic, where you can view posts in your Word Press subscriptions. :)

I find Google Reader so convenient as it's right here in my browser. I keep a tab open with it, right next to my gmail tab. I'm a bit of a google fanboy :D

Looks like this:

Good Grief! Where do you find the time to look at all these, do you never sleep?! I have more than enough to do with work, involves a fair bit of travel, and turning plus selling my turnings: or perhaps the net has managed somehow to increase the number of hours in a day from 24 to 36!!!!

Ah well, yah see I work in front of a pc. I can dip in and out of blogs\forums all day long and then I prefer not to watch the TV when I get home. It might not be prime education, but I learn a lot more out of the computer/internet than I do watching hour after hour of white trash, brain dead telly.
