Recently I had to make some very large door did not have any clamps big enough. So I used 45 x 95mm timbers on bench fitted wooden block to one end then used old fashion floor board clamps to clamp frames, worked well.

I usually use a length of 2x3 with a pair of blocks screwed about the right distance apart and a wedge or pair of wedges driven between one block and the work piece.

same principle but without the floor board clamps. :)

I have used a length of timber with blocks fixed with a single screw. Then tapped the bottom block to the side to tighten it. Same thing without the wedge. Needs to be fairly accurately sized to avoid pulling the item out of square.

Ive got 4 sets of clamp heads meant for 2 x1 batten.... but i use 2x1 box steel instead, giving up to 5m lengths
