Well I haven't bought myself anything yet, but i'm waiting for SWMBO's permission  to take advantage of the Axminster 10% off offer to buy a Clifton 4 1/2. [-o<

Cheers

I have just bought a second hand Kity 439 Planer Thicknesser.

So not really 'for christmas' but only collected it today so almost, it is the present I would have liked my wife to have bought me but didn't.

Just bought myself a 2kw Delonghi oil-filled radiator off eBay - and not a moment too soon, looking at the weather forecast for the next few days! :? Made them a few offers and eventually got it for £35 (plus postage but still saving £5!). It's one of those ones that's brand new, it's been tested and works fine but, the box may be damaged or it may've been a customer return, etc etc... :)

I drove down to Axminster Bobbing today. They have opened up part of their store room as a bargain basement! LOTS of goodies in there from grinders, sanding machines, morticers, drills, hand planes, etc. Minimum 20% off and some things were further discounted. So much there to tempt me, but I have another major tool purchase in mind so refrained. Came away with a tin of Brummer filler and a pressie for Blister.

Because of my extreme bad luck :( (putting my pension savings into a bank  "All darling and Gordon brown" put into provisional liquidation) and having some savings for building a house, in Yen. My wife is now saying "If you want it buy it" then at least the UK government can't steal that from you as well. They can destroy the value of the Pound  but that is not all bad.

This means, because I will use the Yen savings, I am saving around 35% from a year ago :D So I am getting
Festool:
Routing template MFS 700
OF 1400 1/2" Router
MFK 700 EQ-Set Modular edge trimming router
ETS 150/3 EQ-Plus Eccentric sander
DTS 400 EQ-Plus Delta Sander
Parallel side fence FS-PA
Hole drilling set LR32-SYS
Guide rail FS 1080/2-LR32
with router bits sandpaper and lots of other bits
Also a Triton TRB001 Router
And to top it off a few hundred US$ of nice toys from LeeValley and Tenryu saw blades as well :D

Finally I will probably get a WoodRat and that should be enough for a long time.

A Makita 2012NB Thicknesser to replace my pretty grim Fox Planer/Thicknesser. I have a SIP 6" planer which is great. The finish results from the Makita are brilliant. What a Happy Christmas!
A Happy New Year to you all.

Jim :D

Unfortunately, as our youngest's nursery changed their bank details and did not apply our new DD details, we ended up owing them three months fees just before christmas. Then the TV went bang (for the 4th time) just before Christmas (£145 to repair). Then Amp for the Hi-Fi went pop on the 27th.

All in all there has not been anything left in the coffers to buy myself any toys :(

Nice new Panasonic Blue Ray player and 3 free disks. To replace our 5 year old Panasonic DVD player that jammed with a disc inside and I had to demolish to get it out !!
A prezzie to me and SWMBO. Upscales normal DVDs as well.

I bought these with my Xmas money. Hopefully they will stop me from ending up in the place that I work :D :D :D .

I wanted the OF1400 but SWIMBO said we have no spare money at the moment so all I bought was a 2700 guide rail and some CT Midi bags.

Hopefully when the work picks up in the new year the OF1400 will be coming my way.

Went there yesterday - came away with the managers special of a Jet JBOS-5 oscillating sander :D :D

Dont those brand new spanking bandsaws look good though - but will need to make do witm my Axi 350 for a year or 2 more.

I'm only grateful Bobbing is 90mins away otherwise would be there way too often

Happy New Year all

This is a bit late, but here goes .....

A few bits and pieces from A*******r which were absolutely essential (- SWMBO sometimes peers over my shoulder when I'm lurking on this forum)

1/2" router bit (needed for worktop cutting)
Forstner bit (needed for a job)
Anti-fatigue mats (essential - they really help cushion your feet)
Safety specs (essential - H&S etc)
Shinwa stainless/aluminium bevel gauge (to replace a rusty old one)
Veritas plane screwdriver (OK it's an indulgence and it only does one job but it does it very well)
Shinwa stainless mitre square (well why not?)

And a post-Christmas present of a couple of very essential books -

Garrett Hack's The Handplane Book
Cutiing-edge Cabinetmaking by Robert Ingham

I have only skipped through them so far but they both promise to make very interesting reading!

I've treated myself to an Axminster AWEDE Extractor so I can clean up after myself properly ;)

I worked over Xmas, and so I've waited patiently to do my buying

1. Years subscription to "The Woodworker"

2. Triton Orbital Sander 125mm ( Bargain £27 at B&Q )

3. S**T Loads of 50mm and 30mm Kingspan seconds ( an incredible deal off Ebay from a really helpfull guy in Stoke who's delivering it tomorrow)

Looking for Pt or perhaps just a thicknesser for now ( DW 733 )

That's my lot

Cheers

Jed

I bought this from Rutlands, but can't get the rutlands picture up at the mo. Kits the same but rutlands one doesn't have the floor sweep. Got it for £39.99, which is great value considering the cost of the 3m 100mm piping on its own is £25 for 2.5 meters! Buying those alone would cost £50 and you'd still be a meter short.
