Makes the laws of some Countries a joke - you have to carry spare bulbs. What on earth do they think you're going to do with them?

I had reliable information that about 12 years ago an A8 headlight replacement was quoted at £2600.Not sure if the VAT was included in that figure.

The point about carrying spares is well made.Given that the EU managed to get phone charging plugs standardised,is there any reason why they couldn't insist on reasonable access to headlight bulbs?It is definitely a safety related matter and plenty of those have been imposed over the years.I used to run a car that blew a headlight bulb most winters and the miserable access meant I was always happy to pay Halfords the £5 to fit the replacement.
