What are you planning to make this year

My list seems to be growing by the week! :D

For the workshop... A pair of rebated doors to replace the up-and-over, the walls need insulating on the inside and I plan to replace the asbestos roof and put some more joists up there for storage. I also need to build myself a new bench as I'm really not happy with the one I have now (can't really complain though, as it was a freebie, left behind by a previous occupant).

Projects... Mum wants a new kitchen table (and, presumably, four chairs to suit!), I've told my dad I'll make him a guitar for his sixtieth (hopefully electric - I may build a second for myself), I'd like a stool for the workshop and one for indoors, a writing desk, new back door, there'll probably be a couple of jewellery boxes somewhere down the line... And this list doesn't include a couple of commissions I have lined up!

It's gonna be a great year! :D

So far my project list is quite small:

- Bed side table for my daughter (to be done by her birthday in Feb).
- Bed for my son (in the shape of a pirate ship).
- A box with lots of compartments to hold SWMBOs knitting needles.
- A coffee table to replace the cheap IKEA one (the veneer on top is lifting and the bottom shelf is about to give way under the weight of magazines)
- A gate for the side of the house to stop the kids getting around to the pond without us knowing about it.

Can anyone suggest a sensible modern design for a bed?

I see some nice designs on the John Lewis department store site LN. (on appearance. Can't speak for functionality!)

One or two I am thinking are worth reproducing.

I have to make a Hope Chest for my g'daughter and I wouldn't mind a new Shaker-style step stool, a nice design for which I found in the Current 'FW'.

My plan was to build this in Ireland, but as the A*rse dropped out of the pound against the Euro I am looking at a 45% increase.... Does anyone have any ideas about robbing banks, not in the UK as they don't have any money 8)

Robbing banks is easy. Not getting caught is the hard bit!
