War of the Worlds the Jeff Wayne musical

When Richard Burton starts to narrate...excellent. Could do without David Essex though, trying to sing :( - Rob

Yeah - excellent choice. Customers think you're a bit weird when you start to listen to it at work though.........

Philly - 30 gig!!!! I've only just got an MP3 player to plug into my Makita Radio for work, only 4gb. Wish i'd gone for a bigger memory now though.

Some interesting album choices upto now.

Cheers

Philly :D
Who recently filled his 30 gig Ipod to the top....

Is that all???

My 60Gb Creative Zen only has 7Gb left!! 8)

Isn't it great that we are not competitive at all!!

My 30gb Zen still got 20gb free - but mostly because I've never copied my CD collection to it.

I have a few fav albums but the one i listen to on and off and for 30 years now  is Breakfast In America-by Supertramp.

Parallel Lines - Blondiel

Just listening to the 30th anniversary version, certainly brings back some memories doesn't seem that long ago tho

I always preferred Blondie's first two albums. Parallel Lines is a bit too polished for my taste.

Red Roses For Me is a smashing choice. I wouldn't have blamed you for choosing Rum, Sodomy And The Lash either :) .

My 'also rans' would probably be Oysterband's Shouting End of Life and Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love.

Gill

PS If you get the chance to see the Blondie tribute band, Into The Bleach, do so. They're great!

Hi

For cooking to, Living the Blues - Canned Heat, its got a fantastic two side live version of Refried Boogie, you can almost imagine yourself in California in 1968.

For driving, Anthology - Can. If were not allowed anthologies then Who Live at Leeds.

Yes I'm a sad old hippy!

Chris

heh I honesty have not heard of 95% of these albums/artists. Shows my age ;)

I suppose I must be "square" nobody else has mentioned Nat King Cole, I don't mind though, I know what pleases my ears.

Regards,

Rich.

Smooth, Rich 8) . You won't hear me quibble with that choice.

Oh, tonight I just re-discovered Sparks' Kimono My House after many years :D . I'd forgotten how good it was! Now I can't get that fabulous Viennese waltz 'Falling In Love With Myself Again' out of my head.

all time favourite album?
Hallucination Engine By Material, Bill Laswell on bass and producer, a classic, it mixes world, Jazz and rock musics. 15 years on I still play it all the time.

Good busy working music?, Defunkt, early 90's Jazz Funk Collective from New York, oh and Funkadelic 70's reefer heads doing far out funky stuff maaaann.

Anything by Miles Davis apart from his bebop stuff.

Neighbour scaring music? try Dark Magus by Miles Davis, a terrifying mash of noise, murderous guitars, 3 basses, three percussionists and Miles going bonkers.

Chunko'.

A self confessed beard twiddling Muso.

Oh and 'Godspeedyoublackemperor' awful loud stuff
Brian Eno,
Hilliard Ensemble (latin plainsong)
Talking Heads my token concession to popular music.

DSOTM - it's just perfect :)
I tend to listen to Blue Oyster Cult's Imaginos more than any other album - there's some fantastic songs on that - including "The Siege and Investiture of Baron von Frankenstein's castle at Weissaria"!

Funny, I was listening to this earlier on. Good album.
I'm in the process of converting all my vinyl albums onto Windows Media Player. It's great re-discovering old albums I haven't listened to for ages. My fav at the minute is 'Scarlet and Other Stories' by All About Eve 8)

This is always tricky...

DSOTM possibly, or Momentary Lapse of Reason - Pink Floyd

or American ***** by Green Day, or Smash by Offspring, or AC/DC Live or... oh I give up...

;)

Hmmm,..."Kinda Blue" by Miles Davis (1959) arguably the most influential jazz album of all time, certainly the biggest selling.

Kinda not sure you can dismiss this?

I remember when my father didn't like the music I played in my bedroom, and fed up with shouting at me to turn it down/off he gave up and turn the electric off in the whole house! :) ...

Trouble with that plan was that the freezer went off, so I knew he would have to turn it on again within an hour or so!

My mum told him off as well. Poor Dad. I now know how he must have felt.
(This was 30 years ago.)

Ah........now......which Pink Floyd album.....?

Wish You Were Here, I reckon.

.......but then again, Animals contains the immortal "Lord is my Shepherd"......... "he leadeth me through pastures green etc....he causeth me to hang on hooks in high places. He releaseth my soul with sharp knives. He converteth me into lamb cutlets........" !!! and another track has a critique of Mary Whitehouse......"you f***ked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are". Priceless

.......oh, I forgot.......what about Rumours, Fleetwood Mac? ...

.........and Night at the Opera, Queen

......then there's Creedence Clearwater Revival...

OH god......decisions

......Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd......final decision

..but then....
