Does any have or know where I can get one of these. I bought it without one and now the fence is twisting slightly without it and the result is my fence isn't quite at 90 degrees to my table

If you've got the manual and parts list, it would be best to get an engineering firm to make one up.

Otherwise ask Dalton's or someone similar, Wadkin themselves aren't really interested in supporting the 'classic' kit, are very expensive and have slow lead times.

Froggy,

Just thinking about this problem, if a back bar stop the fence 'twisting' then I can only assume front clamp is not working properly.

I don't know the exact details of your saw but anything wadkin is normally so substantial that it will not twist in its own right.

So does the clamp move under pressure from the workpiece? Would some shims help keep it on track?

Bob

Edit:

Just looked at the manual online. Seems it is only a round steel bar (or maybe tube) Possibly getting imperial diameter steel might be a problem for you in France. The things that need making are the distance pieces (item 20) but a stack of washers might serve well enough instead.

It is a bit of a long shot but if you can pm me the diameter (almost certainly imperial) and the length you need TODAY Sunday and if my steel stockist has some in stock so I can buy it Monday morning, I might just be able to deliver to you on Thursday.

Hi, I have the manual, thanks Wills and Bob. And Bob I thought about what you're suggesting and that was my back up plan. It's very kind of you to offer to bring the bar over but before you commit yourself I would check how much out of your way it will take. I live in a small hamlet called Laplagne which is about 3 or 4 miles from Chateauponsac 87290, about 10 miles West of the A20. If you're driving down you will probably come down the A20 and it's not that far out of your way. It would break your journey up. You could stop over for something to eat, or stay the night if you want. Anyway......if you do decide to try and get it, it's 42" long and 1 1/4" in diameter. There is a reclaimation yard not far from me with a warehouse full of steel and they may well have what I want there (but I won't know until Tuesday earlies...bank holiday here on Monday) so don't put yourself out too much. But whether you get it or not your still welcome to pop in.

Hi Froggy,

I have located you on the map as just off the D711?

I would expect my steel stockholder to have 1-1/4 bar so I can buy some tomorrow morning. We are leaving home on Tuesday morning so there is not an opportunity to see if your local chap has anything.

You are not far off a revised route. We are staying overnight in Chatellerault so about 2 hours from you.

We could see you for coffee about 11 am for a flying visit as we have another 4-5hrs driving ahead of us.

The spacers look to be the same as the front bar. If you can tell me the distance between the table and your front bar, I can make up a pair of spacers with the correct 5/8" radius easily then.

Bob

Hi Froggy,

Please could you let me have that dimension for the spacers ASAP please.

I don't have the necessary 1 -3/4 long 3/8 BSW cap screws but you can buy them here
http://www.emkaysupplies.co.uk/socket2a.htm at a price.
Otherwise you could tap the hole out to 10mm and get screws locally to fit.

I will make the spacers with a 10mm bore to cope with either solution.

Cheers

Bob

Hi Bob, the distance is 10mm and I have a small tap and die set, so should be able to tap it out and screw it. Good of you to go to this trouble, look forward to seeing you Thursday. Yes it is off the D711.

Hi Froggy,

OK thats fine thanks.

Please can you PM/email me with some directions to your place once in the village. I will be coming from the north.
Could I have a phone number just in case of problems

A name would be useful - I can just imagine arriving in the village and asking in my poor French to be directed to the house of Monsieur Froggy!!

My email is access via the button at the bottom of this message.

Cheers

Bob

Gentlemen
This thread is wonderful - it's not so much the excellent camaraderie it displays - well done Bob - but the very instantaneousness of communication that modern day telecoms and electronics has created.

I hope it all works out for you both.

Rob

I too am fascinated by the technology.
Especially online mapping supplemented by satellite images.

In no time I could revise the route from our overnight stops and see the impact of a stop off at chez Froggy both on line and then with my satnav.

It is a bit of a cliche but how DID we manage without t'internet?
