OK i'll start with a disclaimer. Don't expect this to be regular or quick, depending on work this may take some time. If it's quick, it's either easier than i'm expecting or business is bad.

As you can see it's in a nice NHS type blue. I picked this up in a job lot of stuff. Every single nut and bolt and screw is/was seized. couple of broken bits, handle at back of column, and opening the motor casing found a broken fin, presumably this is why another fin has a nut and bolt through it to balance it.

The plan is for this to be a dedicated dado saw, as I already have another crosscut set up. Not sure what colour yet. Or whether to go original or pimped, we'll see.

Nathan

Hi Nathan
I have a BRA for sale its advertised over on the WoodHaven , it may be good to use for spares ? If you are interested in it i could deliver my old man lives in Narberth and i pass through Carmarthen a couple of times a month .

Cheers Bern.

hi bern, can't find a for sale section on the woodhaven? i'd love a spares machine, as long as it's spares prices.

cheers

got a couple of hours playing tonight.

got the motor released from the yolk, took b loody ages.

IMG_9292.JPG

the yolk runs along two rods/rails with four bearings

IMG_9293.JPG

the bearings have seen better days

IMG_9296.JPG

bit of cleaning up, you can see the offset bolt on this which enables you to keep the nice fit between rods and bearings.

IMG_9298.JPG

this handle (gave it a quick shine) holds the yolk head at the angle you want for either cross-cutting or if brave enough ripping. It's seized solid I can't get the thing moving, wd40'd it for the night and if not, big hammer time.

IMG_9302.JPG

one of the rails that the yolk rides on, there is wear on it, moreso towards the back where it has probably been used more. unfortunately unlike the CC you cannot turn the rails over due to the way they are held in place. but i'm hoping I may be able to turn them front to back.

underside of rail coverings, which got missed when painted last, not sure about this green.

couldn't help but shine something up.

more destruction coming soon

thanks to berncarpenter I now have a donor machine, delivered today.

not sure my missuses was too impressed the other night when I told her I was buying another broken machine, and takes the crosscut count to 4.

already got an idea for what to do with what will remain of the donor.

Nathan happy to help out ,thanks for the cuppa and the shop tour what a great place. Good luck with the machine .

Cheers Bern. :D
