Hi Everyone, this is my first posting on UKWorkshops, although I have been reading other postings for a few weeks, mainly from Scrit, who appears to know all things Wadkin. I sent a personal message to him a couple of weeks ago but since then I've discovered he no longer accesses this site and consequently did not reply. I recently purchased an AGS 10
sawbench but it did not have a mitre fence. I contacted Wadkin Ultracare and was quoted £265.74 plus vat plus postage and packing. Given that I paid £500.00 for the saw - was this a fair price? - this would make my purchase significantly more expensive. I am a DIYer/hobbyist and will be retiring in about 18 months, trying to develop my skills and keep myself busy. Does anyone know of alternative sources i.e. used parts or another make which fits the Wadkin.
Many thanks for reading this and I look forward to any replies, particularly from anyone with a similar saw, whether or not you're able to advise re my request.

hello jimturn,
I cant pretend to the wadkin knowledge of Scrit. Anyhow, two possibles - ebay has wadkin parts sometimes & is worth a look. Alternatively a dealer who has a large stock of older machines (often trade ins) as well as new stock can probably find one knocking about somewhere. Down here in essex i've had helpful service from Blundell Woodworking. The chap there has a large stock of trade in machines including Wadkins & similar, so he may have your part. Their website is not helpful but the chap who runs the show is. Braintree office phone 01376 - 346 - 565 ; Bury st Edmunds office phone 01284 - 827 - 020. The Braintree office was to be closed so that number may be dead now. I dont have a business connection with this dealer, I'm just a satisfied customer.

Hi Jimturn and welcome to the forum.

I suppose the big question is what size is the T-slot on the table, i'm sure if the members knew the size they could reccommend an alternative.

Hi Jimturn,

Welcome to the forum.:D

I have a Wadkin AGS 10, it too came without a mitre fence, I bought an Osborne EB3, I think its a much better deal than a the Wadkin one. If you have seen Norm on new yankee workshop its the same as he uses. There are a number of members who have them and are happy with them. Buying one is a bit more tricky, I got mine a few years ago and am out of touch with current prices and shipping cost but ordered it from across the pond.

Hi to catface, motownmartin, DaveL and John McM and many thanks for your replies and your welcomes to the forum, they are very much appreciated. John McM, I checked out the posting of 17th October by Phil, as you suggested and the Osborne EB-3 seems a really good piece of kit. The guide bar is adjustable so I may be able to use it with other machines and DaveL has already purchased one for the same machine as mine and seems happy with it. Brilliant, great advice and a testimony by a fellow forum user and Phil has suggested a bulk buy - if enough show interest - to reduce the cost. I'll post a reply on his forum and let you know what happens. Again, many thanks and what a great resource.
Kind regards, jimturn
