Dunnit! It was the little washer in the lever arm. Wouldn't have known it was there - more of a plug than a washer. Prised it out, turned it round, seems to work! I can **** again!
Design too clever by half. Seems to be a valve working another valve, but gives near silent fill and precise float height adjustment, when working as is supposed to.
Give me the old fashioned crappers any day , a 1/2” ball valve contains 1 washer , 1 orifice low or high pressure and the rest is all brass ,, syphon units that lasted forever but might need a new diaphragm every 5 or 10 years compared to nice fancy loos and cisterns that forever seem to demand our attention.🫣🤣😆

Thanks for info.
Looks like replacing (smashing) the cistern is only way to get at things for maintenance. Might as well just get a new bog altogether, but with access for maintenance etc.
Slightly mystified that the over filling only lasts for about a minute and then shuts off - without the float or valve lever moving at all.
This can't be bad at £80? https://www.screwfix.com/p/toilet-to-go-close-coupled-toilet-dual-flush-6ltr/78711

PS the plot thickens! Seems there is a 5mm dia washer somewhere https://community.screwfix.com/thre...lve-how-does-the-fill-valve-work.88780/page-2
Like a lot of things nowadays - seems to be over designed and short lived tat, difficult to maintain or repair.
The only issue I have with this is the fixing holes are at the base of the pan , if you aren’t spot on with your fixing holes including the slight angle they reqd it’s easy to crack the pan tightening it down . Even then it can keep the bottom of the pan under tension and eventually - crack !! Better option is the pans with side fixing holes . You simply position the nylon brackets and fix to the floor then send the fixing screws through the side holes and into the nylon bracket using the nylon washers to protect the pan ..

Well yes.
I've given up on the broken off bath plug - it's much easier now I can just drop it in the plug-hole the old fashioned way, instead of turning a knob. I don't know why they didn't think of that at the design stage.
I've given up on the broken sink plug - I managed to extract the thin washer around it, so now it will open and close when you press on it, but it leaks away slowly. I can live with that!
I can unscrew the plug itself and replace it with an old fashioned normal plug, when I find it. I've got one in a box somewhere.

Found a pic. You can see the little 5mm plug in this pic. 2nd object from left. It's in a hole in the lever and you wouldn't know it was there. Had to winkle it out with a pin, turn t'other way round and put it back in. Problem solved. Nearly bought a new bog!
