Well after my big announcement several months ago

Looks like its not going to happen

At almost the same time I said I was off for my big adventure I was having tests done re a annoying cough I had suffered from for months , went to see the doctor after a chest xray to be told I had " chronic airways disease "  What is that I asked , and was told Emphysema   , looked it up on the internet and scared myself S-itless !! , so off I go for a CT / CAT scan just to make sure that's what it was , go for the results and thank god ( if there is one ) its not Emphysema its now down graded to Asthma

So OK I can live with that

Next , try and sell everything :? Thats a no no at the moment , Tried to sell my fishing boat for £9950 on ebay and it gets to £5200 :? Tried to sell my camper van no bids , went to see an estate agent to sell the house to be told you would virtually have to give it away at the moment as mortgages are hard to obtain

I did confide my position too two members on here , Wizer and Boysie39 , and I thanks them for there support .

But not wanting to give everything away I have decided to put the big adventure on hold

So what will I do with myself for the next however long :?:

I know , why not carry on turning  and be extra careful with the dust side of things

So it looks like i am BACK

only one small problem , Wizer wants my lathe and as I am a man of my word the deal is done :( , so now all i need is a lathe

( Watch this space )

Well he did make me feel bad when he said he wanted to start turning again and "Did I really want the lathe". But thankfully he has a solution in the pipeline. I'd have been lost now I've sold the Woodfast.

Glad everything was ok on the health front Allen and I am glad you'll be turning again.

Blister,

I was starting to wonder where you had got to. Sorry things didn't work out. I'm sure you'll make it when times are a little better.

So which lathe are you going to buy? Is it time for that oneway?

Welcome back to the turning world!

Dave

No Tom..........you'd have been saved! It was your last chance to escape the round side.

Dave,

timing is everything with these big decisions. The time will come right later I'm sure. I'm glad the chest thing isn't serious, and now that you have no lathe why not take the opportunity to renounce your sins and join the world of rectilinear timber?

Mike

Blister - sorry things didnt work out , but glad to see you back - you'll probably be able to buy the BRM back from tom in a few months when he decides he wants a different one :D

Mike - you are in the turning forum yet again for someone who has an avowed dislike of making round things you spend a lot of time here. I know you'll claim that you are only here to save the sinners, but like a preist who spends too much time in the red light area we know what you really want and that its only a matter of time til you give into your darkest desires ... ;)

Sorry to hear of your woes Allen,

Glad the chest thing isnt too serious, Did the doctor indicate a cause? possible link to wood dust ?

I am really sorry that you dream has had to be potponed but glad that you are not seriously ill after all. Strange to think of you not having a lathe though. I'm sure that it will all happen for you eventually, dreams sometimes take longer than we would like to happen.

Glad all is not so bad on the health front Allen, but sorry your plans on moving haven't worked out.
I should think one of those new gouges will be the answer to all your dust problems

Sorry to hear about your postponement Allen but look on the brighter sides, your health is acceptable, every year more canals are re-opened to navigation and think how many items you can make for your narrowboat now your mind has been focused. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your plans being scuppered Blister. Its a bugger when things go pear shaped, hope you can find a suitably large spinning thing to keep yourself amused :)

Hi Blister,

It's disappointing for you to have to change your plans but, with having your health issues under control, you could have another opportunity later, this just wasn't the right time.

I was only on this forum a short time when you decided to wave farewell to the world and pursue a leisurely life on water and I was somewhat disappointed because I enjoyed your posts and was going to miss them. However, at the same time, I was excited for you and, thinking about your decision, I enjoyed contemplating a total life change for me while I was working in the garden and shed - and then I realised I was actually enjoying a total life change forced on me by early medical retirement so sometimes our circumstances can change for the better even in circumstances that we think are working against us.

Best wishes with your new circumstances, I hope you find joy in them.

Brendan

Hi Blister and welcome to the forum :)
Don't forget we like lot's of pictures.
Glad your symptom's weren't anything worse
mate, and I'm looking forward to seeing your new
turnings when the new lathe finally arrives.

Allen, glad you are making positive decisions again after your health worries have been sorted. The good thing about this is you now or should know what you want and starting from scratch again you have the chance to fulfill your woodturning dreams.
I suppose now that Oneway are available in the UK the agent is due a visit.Whatever you decide to do,just think of when things were not looking good and you got a second lease of life and get as much enjoyment as you can. You deserve it. GOD Bless, REgards Boysie

Well , what can I say other than Thanks for your kind words

That bloody Wizer :? He really does want my Big Red Machine

So I will have to pick a new colour

Now let me think :-k

White ?
Blue ?
Green ?

Mmm

Just had a Red one

Lets see :p

Blister, sorry to hear your plans havn't worked out, I'm sure once things pick up later this year/next year, you'll be in a better position to shift things on. Mortgage approvals are up a lot this month, so it seems the banks are slowly starting to lend more, so hopefully you'll have better luck with your house sale soon.

Wizer - why did you sell your lathe?

so he could buy another one naturally ;) dont you know him by now

tho to be fair i very nearly made an offer on the big red machine as it is a very tempting bit of kit ( i decided it would be difficult to get past swimbo as i've only just bought my 1200 )
