indeed I realised that working over the bed of the lathe, even on large bowls was hard on my back. I'm hoping that the Red Devil will improve this as the head swivels.

This reads more like the justification/reason of why you 'need it' thats required to keep wives happy. I've had a few of these too when purchasing expensive tools/toys
Though it may be true,I'm sure theres a little 'I want it!' at play Wizer  It does look like a proper lathe.

You're right. But I generally only like to buy once. If I had bought a little lathe to start with, I'd be upgrading by now and then in a year I'd want another. So with the Woodfast I thought I'd cut all that out and buy a good solid machine that'd last me forever. I didn't realise how it would affect my back. So the BRD will be the last one, honest. Oh and my missus doesn't get a say in these things. I nipped that in the bud years ago ;)

Teach me, master....

As long as the bills are paid then our money is our own. I can't be doing with all the SWMBO business. I get my toys and she gets her shoes and never a comment is passed.

Yeah right  or do you sneak purchases into your workshop late at night under a black sheet

Mine doesn't stop me but anything that costs too much would have lots of comments like "Well you can buy a new 3 piece next"

Nothing of the sort. I can't think of anything worse...

Sorry to hear the plans have not yet come to complete fruition Allen ....

I'd say put that down to 'karma' and when the time is right, it'll all fall into place without a hitch.. and then you'll know its the 'right' time. :D

'Big Red' was very tempting   ...
A bit far to 'lug' it back up the road though ! ... aah well, one day !

You be sure and look after yourself Bud.... keep a good eye on the old airways / chest thing and do what the Quackers tell you....
Take care and be good ! 8) 8) 8)

that works fine if you've got equal incomes , but if you earn substantially more than she does words maybe said about the disposition of your spare cash - particularly if there are small people arround who need to be saved for.

me and the missus are dinkies and intend to stay that way so that problem doesnt arrise - we tend to spend our own spare cash on small items but agreed that large items over a couple of hundred notes need to be discussed and agreed on.
