UJK Router Elevator Needs Avoiding

It is only a pain in the knees if you don't remove it, just get rid. .... In this case you remove the switch interlock and collet lock mechanism and fit a Muscle chuck. This is probably the best setup unless you go all out for the AUK setup.
Why buy something that you have to modify for its use when there are lots of versions out there that don't need work to make it operational? however I agree about the Muscle chuck in any router and lift, good solution to the awful double spanner collet locking, one Allen key is so much more convenient.

Hi guys, just revisited this thread after a long time.

Yes, on balance, I'd say avoid the expensive, non-standard insert size, UJK Router Table. I'm gonna flog my UJK Table on eBay and buy a Jessum insert at some point.

So, can you sages advise me which tables I should consider buying that can use a Jessum insert? Many thanks.

Chris

It's a chunk of money but incra or jessem, their top of the range router lifts with an integral plate and designed for a fixed body router motor are the best I've ever had hands on and they are beautifully made.

A late follow up. I thought I'd share this info with anyone who dislikes the idea of buying a UJK Lift.

I did some reading on www and discovered that the German 'Sauter' company sell router lifts which would fit into my secondhand UJK Router Table aperture, 229 x 306mm. So, I bought there cheapest lift in the OFL... series, the OFL1.0, and have just taken delivery of it, yippee! Quite expensive, but it exudes quality, with a German and English User Manual. Unfortunately, I had to pay UPS £75.13 import fees (£61.53 Government Charges and £13.60 Brokerage Charges) ouch! So, the whole thing's cost me Eur363.42 [£307.22] £382.35. I am informed I can revoke the contract (return the purchase?) within 14 days of my receipt for no reason. That's still cheaper that the UJK lift currently selling at £449.98, but even more important, the OFL1.0 is compatible with the OF1400.

There are other OFL lifts, including their swanky OFL3.30 which tilts, but I can't afford that

Let's hope I've made the right decision. Anyone been down this route (forgive the almost pun), eh?
