trip to crispins veneer

hi all

went to crispins veneer today which is about a mile away from beckton DLR in east london. it is in an industrial estate took some piccys and bought a few bits. sorry pics don't really do it justice the google phones not great for pictures.

it was a good morning saw lots of very nice things. very close to a large shopping park so partners can be left to shop instead of being dragged around a warehouse.

Two big eyes and a very sad face, I think each leaf was roughly 800mm, 600mm. I can't wait to flatten it out and get it stuck down.

I am a sucker for veneers...most of my guitar veneers for electrics come from a friend in South America....I love the figured ones...like this Chilean Burr Birch:

The veneers look great. I would just like to add I have used capital crispins for quite a few years now via mail order and they have always sent excellent quality veneers via mail order to the specification i require. Seeing the pics i might plan a trip in person and stock up on what takes my fancy.

A timely thread.

I've got to hunt down some burr walnut veneer and some cross banding for a project I'm working on. My only local supplier - Reifs - will only sell full bundles. They would prefer to only sell full logs!

I'll give Crispins a try. Any other suggestons for good mail order suppliers of small quantities?
