It is unwise to analyse US politics and behaviours by the standards of the UK - cultures are very different. As George Bernard Shaw said: "England and America are two countries separated by a common language"
Maybe, but there are so many similarities in recent years with divisive politics (and indeed some of the same people involved on both sides of the Atlantic).

We both have high levels of inequality, and a working class (however you want to define them) that appear to deify their "betters" (these days in the UK moving more like the US - with the "betters" being the rich and famous, rather than the royals).

The other way to look at it - Mexico will fall over backwards to retain its economic position with the US. The consequence of not doing so would be an economic nightmare with mass unemployment and reduced inwards US investment.
Do we know who owns the industries Robin mentions? I don't know, but my guess would be that they are significantly owned in the US, and taking advantage of low-wage workers? Just made that up (bit busy) but if correct, those US companies will suffer?

Most (not all) that Mexico provides can be sourced elsewhere
really?

so an American company can switch supply of car manufacture elsewhere, just like that?

What better way to maintain relations than properly secure the border with US. It not only saves the US building a wall and funding troops but allows the Mexicans to do that which is necessary without taking any responsibility.
what makes you think Mexico can easily stop people leaving?

US consumers may need to pay a little more - but many may be pleased of the new employment opportunities arising from a Mexican tariff barrier.
that is abject nonsense

are you seriously saying American companies are suddenly, overnight going to build new factories to manufacture cars, electrical goods etc etce

and havent you forgotten..........Trump wants to deport millions of workers

Come on Terry, you havent thought this through

this is the thing, when people talk about China or Mexico exporting stuff to America, what they really mean is American companies sourcing goods in those countries

If you look at tool brands like Dewalt, Milwaukee etc quite a bit is made in Mexico

If Trump slaps tariff on Mexican goods he will hit American businesses........sure they could look to source elsewhere but tooling up and specifying takes time and costs money.........and how do they know Trump wont slap tariffs on any other country.

LOL Let's just hope this dung-head's insurance assessor is a Democrat as he'll regret his utter stupidity of spitting on a Trump flag.
It really does show the mentality and mindset of your average Democrat and then they criticise Trump and his supporters...you couldn't make it up.
It was bad enough that the bozo lost control of his vehicle but if someone had been stood in front of that lamp standard they could have been very seriously injured or even killed!
He should have jail time for his stupidity.

It really doesn't, that's why it's newsworthy.
Well that's one way of looking at it I suppose but to any rational person it just shows the amount of hate Democrats have for Trump and his supporters.

What kind of person do you suppose is it that pulls up alongside someone holding a Trump supporting flag and then spits on it then drives off recklessly and a lunatic to the extent of losing control and crashing their car?

I really hope he found it was worth it as I found it hilarious and I'd love to see more of that sort of thing...Democrats getting what they deserve....Oh hang on, they did and she was called Kamala something or other? I forget what!
At least the American people got rid of the left wingers, unfortunately we in the UK are lumbered with them, but hope fully not for long.

An *****, and you can find idiots of all political persuasions.
What sort of person stands on the curb waving flags at passing cars? Also an *****, see above.

It's a bit hard to tell because of the way the video has been cropped, so you don't see what led up to it. Could be a back story there which might explain his spitting on the flag, but what really put him off was the reactive spit in the face he got.

Pretty dumb and ugly all round really, no-one comes out looking good, although the driver will pay for his crap driving.

I read an interesting article about an American speaker manufacturer who sourced some of his parts from China, during Trumps first term tariff hike these parts became so expensive he was forced to move his manufacturing business from America to China so completely the opposite of what Trump thought his tariffs would achieve.

Oh my goodness you are so prejudiced it's incredible!
The guy pulled up alongside the guy holding the flag and spat on it and then drove off like a lunatic....what more do you actually want?

You really are a joke trying to defend the indefensible, which is hardly unexpected given your political leaning! The back story is that the Democrats hate Trump supporters, that's the back story but by all means you keep squirming if it makes you feel better.
