Maybe, but there are so many similarities in recent years with divisive politics (and indeed some of the same people involved on both sides of the Atlantic).It is unwise to analyse US politics and behaviours by the standards of the UK - cultures are very different. As George Bernard Shaw said: "England and America are two countries separated by a common language"
We both have high levels of inequality, and a working class (however you want to define them) that appear to deify their "betters" (these days in the UK moving more like the US - with the "betters" being the rich and famous, rather than the royals).
