I have used it countless times and if you can be bothered to do it properly there is no problem. But if you are stupid enough to do otherwise then you are an accident waiting to happen anyway and shouldn't be on the road!

As a matter of interest Bourbon, have you towed a caravan?

Yes I do own a caravan, Small single axle swift of 1992 vintage. I tow it a lot when I do re-enactments (shower is useful) I have had it for around 5 years so I have experience of using it. And yes I drive correctly with extension mirrors which are positioned correctly, Never exceed the caravan speed limits for the road I am on. and don't hold traffic up if I am able to pull over to let a queue past

Then you almost certainly would not cause a lorry to move over into the next lane by carefully moving over yourself.
