Is changing the dust extractor bag.

1. Turn on air filter
2. Shake top (cloth) bag like billy-oh
3. Scoot out of workshop until dust has died down
4. Unclip lower bag
5. Remove bag, decant contents into cheap rubbish bag
6. Replace bag using left and right hands to hold bag taught around rim, third and fourth hands to position the metal band and fasten the clip
7. Note that bag has fallen off rim at back
8. Go to 6
and so on...

Anyone found a better way? I've tried using those tiny round magnets to hold the bag to the rim while fiddling with the band and clip - only trouble is the band sticks to the magnets too, In some US magazine pictures I've seen bags with loops - like the belt loops on trousers - but can't find a European source for these. Any ideas on improving the hideous process?

I use Earth Magnets to hold the bag in place as I tighten the strap, making sure the bag is secured to the machine above the strap where it will overhang, so it doesn't interfere. I don't normally have a problem doing it this way and always wear a mask. :)

I used to get SWMBO to hold the bag while I fastened the clip. Then one time I asked for help she came in the workshop told me to move over, held the bag in place with a clothes peg while putting on the clip.  told me not to ask again
Smart a***

well 1st I tap the top bag with a stick so the dust falls down into the chips - no all out in the air :)

chip bag off and right way up. Bin bag over the top. Turn them over and slip the chip bag up - still no dust.

slip the strap over the bag. place the bag rim in place . pleat and hold with one finger. lift strap up into position with other hand and clip into place.

still no dust :)

oh yeah - bin bag of chips. Scrunch up the top and spin the bottom so the top twists, then tuck the twisted bit under itself and it wil stay - and can be used as a handle on the way to the bin !

I have some smaller bags which if i stretch the opening a bit they fit on the extractor and hold tightly in place until the band is put on.

ILike the earh magnet idea, i have some large bags which i have to fold a bit and holding one hand and tying to get the strap on can be a pain!.

I can't think of a worse job, but I can tell you how I have overcome it. No bag!
Depending on your set up, but in my case I have replaced the bag with a tube made from Denim that drops the chips etc into a dustbin!
Now all have to do is try and avoid taking the bin to the tip on a windy day!

Digit's the way to go! 'Er indoors made mine with a sort of internal skirt to guide dust into bin so dust doesn't clog just under the bag/bin clip.

Elasticate it or use Velcro, saw dust that sticks to the Velcro is a nuisance but it can be removed with an airline.

The lower bag replacement on my Elecktra Beckum was always a PITA. I found the easiest way to get it all back on after emptying is to put the top of the bag up through the band clip and then fold the top of the band down to cover the clip. This holds the bag and clip together well enough to get the whole caboodle up and over the flange. Then fold up the bit of the bag that covers the clip and then lock as usual. Since doing this I've never had any problems.

Mine is a home built DE system, and I only have to shovel the dust into disposal sacks and give the filter bags a shake :)

My worse job is changing the sticky backed sandpaper on the disk sander, it never comes off cleanly and takes ages of soaking and peeling :(
