The vital point missing from the bedrock vs bailey comparison is that the front prongs of the bailey frog are frequently not making good contact with the sole casting.
This can result in poor blade support at the crucial heel of bevel area.
Pat Leach is a dealer, and Baileys are much more common.
I think modern bedrocks with thick blades offer all the user advantages (except cost)......
However I also admit that a properly tuned bailey with thick replacement blade can be made to work very well indeed. This is the main part of my 5 day short courses. Sharpening, blade prep for both chisels and plane blades, block plane tune up and use of planes are also included!
