My CLT22E arrived today, picked it up for a bargain price ex-demo. I was going to get a Midi from SNight but this was such a good price and also the hose booms fits to this which is something I'd really like in the future.

Chems, uncanny timing, I was just about to start a thread on the green tide,
Have fun with it,
T

Just as the green tide is getting serious traction, am I correct in saying they have been bought out by some other company? A company with inferior quality principles I believe!!!

I'm not trying to be clever. I really can't remember who it was.

Eoin, i'm sure I saw talk somewhere of them being bought up by B&D, which would surely be a catastrophe if it were true

That' a nice looking hoover Chems, what is it the wife's birthday or something?
The only bit that I do not like the look of is the square top, it looks like something is missing :? Ah it could be for a domestic washing basket, so that SWMBO can collect the dirty laundry as she hoovers the house.

Festool, strange name, sounds like one of those small far eastern companies, I do not think it will ever catch on.

You lucky beggar

Cheers

Mike

Nice one, Chems!

I just bought the new CTL 36 vacuum. Slippery, slippery slope indeed!

The space on top is the hose garage as you can see, then ontop of that is for systainer storage. (google image)

Useful it is too. I bought this specifically to replace my workshop RSDE which I really liked, and so I can take it out to site. The RSDE is too big to take out on site and it s bit tippy for wheeling around. I think the RSDE is better for workshop use thou, I can see me filling the bags on this rapidly.

Here's a non-google image -

Sorry for posting the same image in two different threads, but I couldn't resist.

Obviously my humour is not as funny as I thought Chems. I practised in front of the mirror before I went ahead and wrote it. Maybe that's my problem, I should not be talking to myself

Cheers

Very interesting and I'm glad to see its not true.

When reading the comments of some folk on the american site above there is one thought to bear in mind (and I'm open to serious correction here), its not Black and Decker as we might know it. B+D inc is a serious player and owns many other power tool companies. Do they not have a considerable share in DeWalt?

Basically if thats true, I wouldn't be so quick to ridicule at the idea of B+D owning Festool.

Heaven help us. Second hand Dominos will be twice the retail price in a years time...

Eoin

I think it looks a bit crap really, I would prefer the RSDE2-A any day.
I bet I could stack a few boxes on top as well. 8)

B&D, Dewalt and Elu were all at one time one happy family. Then one sad day the bean counters got shot of the Elu brand and transferred all to Dewalt. Dewalt bean counters decided that too much money was being spent on materials to make exact copies of Elu tools so thinned and shortened everthing down. The Dewalt clone of my old Elu 177E's in nothing like them, quality wise.
B&D have continued to produce affordable tools for the hobbyist or DIY'er that will last them a long time of periodic use, I sometimes think B&D is a R&D company that gets all it's beta testing done for free!
This history is as I have seen it unfold, from a customers perspective, if anyone has some insider skinny on it all then, please enlighten me.
Regards Rob.

Rob,

As I do not have a Elu 177e I cannot in all honesty disagree with you, but what I will say is that it's replacement, the Dewalt 625EK is an excellent machine and can only be a credit to the Elu.
You only have to look how long it, it's updated models, and even it's clones have been on the market with very little change to see how good it is.

Cheers

Did anyone else look at the first picture in this thread, not notice that the beast was sitting on a table, rather than on the floor, and thing "B****y h**l, that beast is HUGE?

lol, I was surprised how large it was actually.

Its very quite, I can't tell if its on when I have a tool on, quiet tools like the table saw and domino.
