I have an Epson R300 printer. When I came to use it a couple of days ago it wouldn't work and displayed a message saying "Error" and indicated that certain parts were at the end of there useful life and to see manual.
I only had the instructions that came with it and these were of no help at all.
I went on to the Epson web site Q&A and it appears that when the ink pads are saturated there could be a risk of ink getting in to the electrics and causing a fire.
So I took the printer in to the workshop, stripped it down, soaked up the excess ink and generally cleaned up any ink that I could see.
When I switched back on I expected the message to have gone and the printer to be back in order- No such luck.
I contacted a service shop and was told to take it in to be reset.
I then logged in to Google "Epson R300 Reset Error"
From there I found that if I switch off the printer, Press STOP MAITAINANCE, and POWER all at the same time it resets.

Just run some photo's through it and it works fine.

Thank you Google

Bliss! How did we live before the Interweb eh? ;)
...and it only seems to be over the last decade or so that it's become engrained into our psyche. Remember all the stuff in the media at the time about the 'Information Highway,' what ISP's were and how to get one? - Rob

Despite the ease with which things can be sourced using Google, it is surprising how many people still post questions like "Where can I buy a Sorby roughing gouge?" on forums such as this rather than just typing "Sorby roughing gouge" into Google.

and without the t'internet who would you have told about your amazing printer recovery... :p

My brother, a bit of a Luddite when it comes to things IT, binned a 1 year old Epson printer that displayed a similar message without asking younger sibling first.
Easy come. Easy go.

I'm a big fan of Google. Not only do I use their search engine, but also iGoogle (personalised homepage), Calender, gMail, Docs, Reader, maps, earth etc etc. Great company, always looking at ways to make the users life easier and not trying to think of ways to make money (like MS).

My IT support is provided by my 11 year old niece and 13 year old nephew.
I have always believed in consulting experts first.
