Having watched the first of the new series...I wonder :-k It seems to be the same old formula that keeps on being churned out year on, year out, it looks to me like the show's format is getting very stale. I sat there for an hour and only sniggered a couple of times (the new Stig at Uni) and the motor at the end with the wheels knicked. I also got the impression that May wasn't at all happy and as for Clarkeson's repeated attempts at IPlayer immitations... Was it just me or what? - Rob

I've got to agree with you about TG last night. I didn't understand the point of the tattoo idea and the beetle dropping from the sky sketch was to me, about, how much money can we waste for the sake of a 5 min slot. I really didn't find the programme funny for the first time ever.

Best place for Sienna Miller tho...............in the glove box .
Gutted the bike didn't beat the Atom aswell, but yes a very random show.

Car verses bike with same power to weight never going to win, been done many times rubber on the ground is ten fold in the cars favour.
Just watched the helicopter land on the yeti's roof,brilliant..........
Except when it landed it was off centre by about 10 inches and in the next shot it was dead centre

I felt this episode was a little desperate, especially with the tattoo guy who now has permanently ruined his body out of pure stupidity

The show does seem to have lost a little something over the last few series but I wonder if that is my tastes or the show changing (or both). It must be incredibly hard to keep a show like that feeling fresh and I think the writers do a pretty good job generally. I think the problem is possibly that they have moved almost completely away from talking about the cars towards just doing crazy things. I enjoy the crazy things but it's become a bit like watching a film that's comprised of only action sequences.

Personally, I would like them to do more about alternative power sources for cars. We aren't all going to get driving electric or hydrogen powered cars tomorrow but it will undoubtedly happen eventually and it would be great to follow the development progress. Clearly this isn't going to happen while Jezza is on the show but I suspect May would be more than up for it. I realize they have done a couple of pieces on alternatively powered cars and I was actually surprised how balanced they were but two pieces in the last 30 odd shows...
